Back from Anime USA! Sorry for the sparce amount of posting on Mon & Tue, but after a long trip back from Virgina I …accidentally slept 16 hours. Whoops!
Just wanted to say a quick thanks to all the readers who came out to shows we’ve attended this year. It’s been an exhausting year hitting the gaming/anime convention circuit but it’s probably the biggest thing that keeps the site going!
Also thanks to Garth, Brian, Jim and Nelly for letting me crash at their place! I wish I got to live in a house together with a bunch of my friends!
Also on a totally unrelated note, I wanted to ask a quick favor from all you fans of Twisted Pixels ‘Splosion Man! The game is up for “best independent video game” in this year’s 2009 VGA awards and it would really help them out if you could give them your vote! Assuming of course you enjoyed the game, which I’m sure any of you who played it certainly did! Thanks!

Oops, almost forgot to mention that we’ll be at Anime USA this weekend in Arlington, Virginia! Looks like my last convention of the year… which honestly is kind of a nice feeling, as I’ve done quite a few shows this year!
But anyway, I will be in the guest area (although I’m not actually a guest, go figure!) which is by the front entrance to the dealers room. If you feel like stopping by to [say hello] / [tell me how cool I am] / [make fun of me for not working on Staccato] I will be there… along with my usual pile of Ninja-Bot miscellany for you to browse through!
Oh and speaking of Ninja-Bot, there should be a new version of the site up later today (for those interested in such things!) May even be some new items there that may interest some of you holiday shoppers! Just sayin’!
Also I mentioned it on the Halolz Twitter already, but a small site upgrade… we’ve added a new Facebook button to posts which makes it super quick and easy to share your favorite submissions with all your friends on Facebook. Also it has a cool little counter which tells you how many people have shared it on there as well (which I really like). Be sure to check it out!

This is what I’ve been told. The kids… they like their facebooks. Therefore we are finally getting around to making a Halolz Facebook Fan Page!
However one thing I have discovered is that we can’t access some of the features to set it up the way we want until we have at least 25 fans. So
how about all you Facebook loving peeps go there and fan it up! That would be just… FAN-TASTIC!
It’s pretty empty at the moment, but rest assured we have some sort of plan for this thing!
(or so I am told)

And finally, our 1st place winner for 2009….. with an overwhelming 23 (out of 24 points)……
Ian Wagner and his awe-inspiring “Mother Brain & Baby Metroid” pumpkin set! Pretty amazing job, right? Well it’s certainly not surprising as he was our 1st place winner in 2008 as well! (with his impressive Samus pumpkin)
For a second year of impressing the Halolz judges, Ian will be getting another mountain of shirts (and other stuff) from Ninja-Bot!
Congratulations… and congrats to everyone for making our second annual pumpkin carving contest a big success! In fact to thank everyone who entered we will be sending out consolation prizes to everyone who entered this year! Just keep watching your email for more info!
Happy Halloween!

Mama mia! Add that to the list of things I don’t want to see coming out of my pipes!
Not only is OmeletGood’s “Piranha Plant” (which got 17 points) scary enough to frighten off the neighbors kids, but it brings me back to the classic days of Super Mario Bros! A win-win! And speaking of winning, he won a pile of stuff from Ninja-Bot! Great job!

OH DEAR GOD NO!! Christ I thought that moon was creepy in Majora’s Mask… but as a pumpkin… oh man it’s far worse!
Picking up 3rd place (with 14 points) is TCC’s “3 days…” (which will forever haunt my nightmares). Congratulations, you’ve ruined my life, and earned a little of everything from Ninja-Bot!
