ITT: Kids that never experienced this horror first-hand. Back in my day, we had to switch our boxes ourselves…and we were grateful. If we left to catch me all with a full box, we were to blame. We had none of this Bill callin’ ya to tell ya your box is getting full, and we certainly didn’t have no auto-switchin’ boxes. Kids these days…
Back then, a box had 20 (or was it 30) spaces. And when you filled one, you had to manually go to a Pokemon center and change it to one with free storage, this took time since switching boxes forced the game to save.
Also, you had no idea of when a box was full untill either
a) The above message displayed
b) You went to a box to check
c) You kept count in your head.

I'm not sure if this counts or not, but here's a touching story.
When I first ran into Articuno, my first legendary, I didn't realize I'd only have 1 chance to catch it unless I saved beforehand (I didn't) so when I spoke to it, saw that I was about to fight a level 50 I ran away. The bird disappeared and I only realized later after I had saved that it wouldn't be coming back.
I'm hungry for some Vanillite now.

Reminds me of the first time I encountered Ho-oh in Gold version. It was a few years back. I was on a camping trip with my scout troop and I brought my gameboy along like a boss. I had just scaled the tower and made it to Ho-oh and decided to save my game and catch him later. A younger kid in my troop asked if he could play. I said "sure, just whatever you do, don't save the game." A little bit later, he gave me gameboy back and said "I killed that big bird for you, so I saved the game."

Well that's because the legendaries will always be weaker than your hand-trained team, thanks to the magic of EVs.
Things like this are why I will NEVER let someone play my Pokemon games unless I'm hovering over their shoulder the whole time.

True, but whether or not it works well is irrelevant in my statement--just as long as it works, period, and that the "will always be weaker" part is shown to be false when the same mechanics are applied to legendaries.

Well let me give you some advice.
Don't do what you did today and make funnier jokes.
Never say "Deal with it" when you have something thats fake or "made up".
Never make something that people commonly know and you say that you have shadow pokemon.

Hate to be the "um, actually…" person, but that's not quite how it works! :b They'll be much slower to level up for sure, but once you've killed enough innocent pokemon to max out your EVs, the resulting boost will be the same as if you'd done it at level 5. Assuming the legendary's levelled at least once since gaining said EVs, for them to come into effect!
So in other words, Magmar is right. Sorry I only burst out into lecture because I didn't want to do homework. Obviously we're both fans of pokemon so we're still cool. (Like practically every single person here, really.)

I'm still having a difficult time understanding EVs. Thus far, all I've been doing is getting all of my Pokémon sick with Pokérus (Thank Arceus it's non-transferable amongst humans…) and then slapping on a Macho Brace during training. It slows down their speed a little but boosts everything right? So, I should be ok?

It doesn't boot their stats directly, but gives 4 EV points to the particular stat, in addition to the EV would normally be gained.

Went to go try the Missingno. glitch. Successfully KO'ed Missingno., checked to see if my Master Ball was at the infinite number. Turned out that not only did I mess up the glitch by not moving the Master Ball to the sixth spot in my bag, but the item that was in the sixth slot wasn't even multiplied. The kicker: as soon as I went to the Cinnabar Island Pokemon Center and attempted to save the game, it glitched and temporarily froze on me.
Oh and since you have a red banner. You probably will get automatic -1's from those "not gonna read this troll" dicks out there.

This is simply adding onto Happy's comment (as I'm sure he already knows this), if, hypothetically, your Groudon is level 99 with no EV's, and you manage to squeeze all possible 510 EV's into him before he levels to 100, he'd get a massive boost to the trained stats. Case in points, a boost of over 63 points in a single level if only two stats are trained.
Allow me to add a rule:
Knowing keepers of Shadow Pokémon are cruel, horrible people for keeping their hearts shut…
So yeah.
