Inspired by a Classic

When they said they were rebooting the franchise to keep it fresh, I didn’t expect them to pull from a 1993 masterpiece!

I don't care what anyone says, I like the Mario Bros. movie. Yes, it's terrible. But so are a lot of other movies I love from my childhood.

Reminding him of his major failure… have you no shame?

  16. BTSnoogans on February 28th, 2012 3:48 am

Those faces kind of remind me of John Goodman's character on that one 90's tv show. The one with all of the horribly ugly, disfigured, dinosaur-like creatures. What was the name of that show? Oh yeah. Roseanne.

  17. vash_ts on February 28th, 2012 6:04 am

that lizard reminds me something else…
    maybe the avatars?

  18. Mindlessinvalid on February 28th, 2012 7:49 am

"Look at how happy he is" is the ONLY joke a certain friend of mine made when we did an MST3K style movie-night with "that travesty" as our opening act. Whenever the goombafied "Toad" showed up that was his line.

I actually think that between the three of us who did the (improvised)commentary for the rest of the group, he didn't get much lulz compared to me and the other guy.

  19. C__F on February 28th, 2012 7:53 am

…Maybe it's because I play too many sci-fi/fantasy video games, but I don't think they look that similar. Meaning I was just reminded of the Super Mario Bros. movie for no good reason.

    SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWN!
    FRED WOOOOOOOOOOD!

  20. PvtDisposable on February 28th, 2012 8:22 am

Why blame Trunks when you can blame the bastards who remade this abomination? This guy's a super-villain, he wont die when you hop on him! HOLLYWOOD!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. McSsax on February 28th, 2012 8:40 am

Gee, guess I was the only one who liked that goofy mario movie.

I mean, it was Whoopi Goldbergs' best performance!

  22. Marzen on February 28th, 2012 9:06 am

I like how they have those goombas on display as if they're proud of em.

  23. Gary_Blue on February 28th, 2012 10:13 am

Cannot unsee. Every time I jump on one of those little things, now I'll just imagine the sickening crunch of scales beneath boots.

My plumbers hat is off to you, halolz.

    That movie…
    rel="nofollow"><img src="http://www.omega-level.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Super-Mario-Bros-The-Independent-Movie..png" width="400">

Picture is link to a 'trailer' for a fan made Mario movie.
It contains the standard parallels between mushrooms and drug use as usual in any fan made video about Mario. Other notable examples include:
    There will be Brawl

  27. DurandRhisham on February 28th, 2012 12:00 pm

The lizard here reminds me more of Killer Croc from the first 3 seasons of the Batman animated series. And whats all this talk about a "Super mario brothers movie" I've never heard of such a thing! *sweats nervously*

  28. gAmer_Matt on February 28th, 2012 1:29 pm

Who else thought the Lizard (at least in the new movie) sucked BEFORE seeing this comparison? Now it just makes it THAT much worse!!

  29. xxxxxxtheundeadcat on February 28th, 2012 3:39 pm

Jokes on you shawn. I can't read.

I didn't see this was the Lizard before the picture finished loading. I was kind of wondering why a Locus Drone was smiling at me (and had no nose).

…Oh god. I think I know what the planet Sera is now…

  34. ChemicalKirby on February 28th, 2012 7:53 pm

Guess I was the only one that liked that movie? it was funny :]

  35. Numberplay on February 28th, 2012 8:47 pm

Why do good submissions get buried quickly by other submissions and horrible ones are followed by a looooooooooong wait for another submission.

  36. BTSnoogans on February 28th, 2012 9:44 pm

Joke's on you, undeadcat. I touch you while you touch him in his sleep. In your sleep.

Watched SMB:The Movie in theaters TWICE. Loved it both times. My 8 year old self was so badass in his ability to love anything regardless of taste.

  38. SonicsmyName on February 29th, 2012 11:58 am

    dis masterpiece?
    I'm confuzzled @__@

  39. King Starscream on February 29th, 2012 1:31 pm

You know, as much as you guys talk about how bad the Super Mario Bros movie was, I have to say it did have some pretty amazing parts. First off, the visual effects, including the CG, were better than a lot of more modern movies I've seen. Second, it's because of that movie the Luigi and Daisy are an item in the games now. And third… seriously, how many of you would turn down the chance to have Bullet Bill powered super jump boots?

  40. ProfessorLuigi on March 2nd, 2012 12:38 am

We NEVER talk about the super mario bros. movie!
    IT-A-NEVER HAPPENED!

  41. Ilpalazzo on April 15th, 2012 4:27 pm

Oh, really? Noone saw this coming? Green Goblin's design was a rip off of Jet Jaguar, Doc Oc's arms were taken from those Matrix robot things, and Venom was accidentally based off of Carnage.

So why the surprise when they messed up the Lizard? Stop paying them money and you'll stop getting raped.
