The one thing that's always confused me about the comic is the fact that he is wearing guard armor, even though the arrow to the knee is what caused him to stop adventuring and become a guard. Then again, if he wasn't in his guard armor, people whould have know idea that he was a guar- OMG DID THE SNOW JUST STOP?!

Just by adding slowpoke in an iron helmet Shawn has made the overused joke perfectly acceptable. Bravo.
Okay, why the low rating? I mean, yes arrow-to-the-knee jokes are old, and this may have been sort of an obvious joke, but no one did it yet and it got a good chuckle from me. It wasn't so much crossing the memes either, since one was simply used to parody the other.
Out of all the meme-crossing, this is one of the better ones I've seen.

In Exalted, there's a Sidereal (fate ninja) archery charm that lets you turn your arrows into ideas and these ideas re-write the victim's fate.
I cast Many Missiles Bow Technique to fire "Guard Duty" at the mortal hero, called shot to the knee.

I use to laugh at arrow to the knee jokes, but then i actually took an arrow to the knee, and it just didn't seem so funny anymore.
I used to practice archery with my maplewood 4cm cross-section self longbow every day, then I got arrested for assault. Apparently people don't like getting shot in the knee.

How to get a job as a city's guard in 3 easy steps.
1. Have experience in light-heavy armory.
2. Know how to use a weapon.
3. Take an arrow to the knee during a previous adventure, we don't want no guard who was arrowed in the knee during their Black Friday crisis.
I think I'm missing the part where becoming a guard is profiting in any way.

I hope dear Ezmerelda will suffice, it would be *cat*astrophic if you made her mad. The last person to anger her got shot in the knee with an arrow, then had the arrow pulled out through their spine.
I used to be worried about taking an arrow in the knee.
Then I bought some actually working armor.
I just love how quickly this joke became overused. I feel like people were making it for only a week before everyone and their mom knew it and started getting tired of it. Heck , now people are going all hipster and arguing over who got tired of it first!
