Hope you don't mind me leeching off your post and simultaneously killing your joke by offering a more reasoned defense for those who would find themselves labelled as 'haters'; i.e. everyone who ain't a pony brony. Shit that was a long sentence. I continue.
I can't recall any specific examples of entirely non-gaming posts, but I know a lot of the time it was for stuff pretty off-the-wall. Like, "this isn't video games but I swear it's worth it"? This, though, it's just.. a pony macro. We've seen ponies; we've seen macros. Hate to be the 'dedicated VG nerd' but people do expect a little more from non-video games on a video game website.
Most notably, for non-MLP viewers there isn't really any additional payoff. I mean, I can't even approach this having read Watchmen, right? It's… a quote, with a horse pun in it. The joke is horses I guess? Some.. people find horses funny I guess? I get that there's a whole "trolling" thing up there and that people get great amusement out of their "trolls" but I don't really feel angry or anything. I just think it's kind of lame. For lack of a better word.

It's actually not that bad. Can't blame you if you don't like it; it's way too silly while also managing to take itself seriously. Not many people can keep up with the sheer number of time loops and/or shenanigans it runs itself through, and anything you thought was just stupid and inconsequential turns out to be a part of a bigger plot you didn't even know was there until two thousand pages later.
And that's just the way I like it. Once you piece it together, it unravels itself into an absolute gem of a story, but I understand most people don't like to bother with that.
It's cool either way. No one should force anyone else to read it (why I hate the fandom in a nutshell).
It's called hype backlash, and to be frank, it's the fanbase that causes it. It goes a little something like this:
1. Something of varying quality comes out. Usually it's something worth looking into, but there are exceptions. *coughTWILIGHTcough*
2. People become obsessed… and by obsessed, we mean far too obsessed for their own good. We're talking on par with worship, here.
3. Because these people are treating it like the second coming of Christ, people who decide to get over hype aversion (the act of not watching something because everyone's recommending it) find it underwhelming, and thus come off with a negative impression of the work.
Long story short, it's because the fans are generally too retarded to differentiate something good from something godlike, and so they give the impression that something is far, far better than it actually is.
Also, to keep it relevant, it does in fact apply to ponies, too.
So that's where my submissions are. In a posting queue full of pony.
I meant his comment was bad, not Homestuck. I'm up-to-date in Homestuck and I can say that the only part that is (really) bad is Act 1, although all the earlier acts are kind of meh. People tend to ragequit right during the naming of the characters for the stupid first rename, another joke who is supposed to be unfunny and stupid, I know, but there was no need to add that.
By the last acts, the story, as long as you are able to understand most of it, is incredible, probably being the main reason I read it now. The music that appears later and the animations are also awesome, and all these things together make you forget the awful art and unnecessary lame jokes,
Still, coming to Halolz and calling both MLP and Homestuck fads, and trying to press people to read it is stupid, and reflects the awful fandom it has.
Ok, once again, from a fellow Homestuck reader: the awful art, the incredibly lame jokes Hussie (the author) adds to troll reads, the incredibly bad first act that makes people ragequit (I'd call it a "tutorial" for the rest of the comic), the horrible fanbase and the story that seems to make no sense on the earlier acts.

Call me oblivious, but am I the only one who DOESN'T see ponies everywhere they go on the Internet? I dunno, maybe I'm just visiting the wrong sites, but I still only mostly see ponies on 4chan, and even then only on one board unless someone feels like easy trolling. I mean, I like ponies and all, but I'm not going out of my way to post them in irrelevant places. The fact that I don't frequent Facebook is probably a cause of this, but still. I just don't think it's the great Internet epidemic that the Non-Pony Republic makes it out to be.
It is. I like both, but I prefer a great story over the visual appeal.
Upsetting the coffee-table is much more gratifying than putting it back. I flip because the destruction is good for the soul, restoring the balance is mediocre entertainment.
