Ah, the asterisk. It always amuses me when they are used for swearing censorship, when really we all know what it's trying to say. so the question is, do they really do anything besides prevent the younger ones not exposed to such language from knowing what's going on?

It is important to note that before flaming, TheAceOfRetards is actually pointing out the irony of the site's name when one looks at the content rather than just running his mouth. With that understood, feel free to go after him in any other way (such as finding mistakes in grammar or by mentioning the incident of August 9th to him).
One can assume they refer to the bizarre tendency to censor the middle of the words with a noise (where you're able to identify the word by the beginning and ending sounds). This also applies when the asterisk is used to censor the vowel, as often this is the effect heard with words such as "Fuck" as the "-ck" is it's own individual sound, which ends up meaning that what one hears is "F-" and "-ck," though sometimes the fact that it's a "Fu-" is more obvious due to how one pronounces the F proceeding the u.
If this is where this comes from then it makes more sense than writing it as "FBLEEPCK," or as "F*bleep*ck." Also, as you can see in the latter example, sound effects are often enclosed in *'s so it makes sense to use them as a substitution.

Thank you, I applaud your observation of the asterisk cutting into the middle of the words, which I had intended to mention but somehow did not use. That way we do see enough of the swear to know exactly what is intended. there is also the limited "1337" censor such as @$$, which is about as effective as the cutting into the middle.
With a full censor one could have other words inferred. However, this is generally limited by the situation and certain words would make no sense upon the context. For instance this case is for the sake of a meme. So, to once again touch upon my original thought:
What is the point of 'partial' swearing?
The only conclusion I have come to is it is to divert the swear from those who have not yet learned of such language. Somewhat admirable, as this means it's for the innocence of (mostly) children.
I like the idea for this e-peen thing… it makes people think I'm here for fame instead of here to entertain. Then I just when… meh.

It also caters to those of us who prefer not to see swears and "vulgarity" in full. Even though we know full well what is implied by the partial blocking of the word, it makes us feel better that the word isn't spelled out for the world to see.

I believe it is done in order to keep the humor from being vulgar. For instance, watch The Daily Show, he swears quite a lot and the main audience of the show knows the swear words he says, however, it does not come off as vulgar because of the bleeping and the bleeping itself becomes humorous.

Indeed, I do know where you're coming from here, in fact I am practically the same way. But I find it amusing to ponder over language and how it's used, in this case how implication is viewed as better than full on reveal. almost parallel to the sensation of showing a monster on a horror film as little as possible to keep it to the viewers imagination. The monster there comes off as much more scary than could ever be designed, but here, the words are taken lighter than if there wasn't a section cut out, despite the fact that one can easily recognize the word.
It's an interesting thought on, for lack of a better way to address it, how we can feel better about something because of TECHNICALITIES. We all know what the word is, and most people familiar with the intended word can identify it, yet we feel better when it is even partially cut up.
