It is as I feared. Halolz is slowly turning out to be another host of Rage Comics, the Internet parasite that saps your creativity and humour to replace them with a hive-minded series of predictable and often lame jokes.
Sure, you might type "lol" or even a "roflmaozedong" in the comments, but you will only give it a smile at most. Isn't it odd that the acronym for "laughing out loud" has become a hyperbole of sorts?

This…deserves far more 1-ups than this already has. I'll do my part, but if Halolz has any soul, they will follow in suit.
Well, unfortunately, comedy arises from some type of conflict or contradiction. In addition a large majority of it is relative, not to mention similar…it's like a typical story, you have a protagonist, antagonist, and some sort of moral or lesson at the end of it. So there is some sort of predictability in nearly every joke.
That is not all comedy, that is a type of joke. Not everyone is a story-type comedian; some people, like Stewart Francis, use one liners, others use Slapstick, and let's not forget, Dark Humour, my personal favourite (which is one of the many reasons for which I find Adventure Time so freaking awesome).

Maybe sitting on the leisurely throne of 100+ e-peen has made you forget the inner nature of Halolz. The truth that everything is simply done to garner +1s. Every witty rebuttal, every link and image posted, every mention of the holy Capt. Falcon, all done in an effort to make others press that little thumbs up icon to the right.
Rage comics are just the most recent in a long history of internet humour, it's enjoying its run, but it'll leave soon enough. I know it, you know it, the cheezburger network knows it, so we may as well just live with it.
That was two years ago!? I remember Babydoken! being the highest rated submission like it was yesterday.
Well, even one liners make reference to some type of situation. They're like the Cliff's Notes to longer jokes. Some of them fall short, among certain crowds, but for the most part, there's a shared or collective experience with the crowd that actually gets the joke. Part of the problem with memes is that the original joke is often lost and the comical aspect of it is stale when you see it over & over. Everyone just sort of hops on the bandwagon I guess. Meh, none the less I can't help but laugh at the irony of it all.
Actually, "Pocket Monsters" was the basis of the term "Pokémon".

Reading that back, I may have sounded more hostile that I intended. Basically, ofcourse rage comics are going to crop up, it's the new funny thing, but their time will pass. And adding to yours and Jimmy's discussion above, rage comics are basically internet-ified observational comedy, the most common sort of comedy out there. It's fine if you don't find it funny, but lots of people will.
