I HEARD THERE WAS AN EARTHQUAKE

Diglett used Magnitude! Magnitude 5.9

We didn’t feel that one, but we did feel the Virginia earthquake all the way up here in Albany New York! First earthquake I’ve ever experienced. We survived it though!

Is it sad that this how I learned there was an earthquake today?

2. BoxeyBrown on August 24th, 2011 2:59 am

Nope, this is how I did too.

3. BoxeyBrown on August 24th, 2011 3:01 am

I heard there was a strong earthquake on the east coast…

…In 1944.

4. ChemicalKirby on August 24th, 2011 3:02 am

Can't blame Slowpoke, so many earthquakes nowadays…and Diglett, your ridiculous!

5. Banette on August 24th, 2011 3:04 am

I felt it earlier. Thought it was someone moving furniture. o_o

6. RemielChibus on August 24th, 2011 3:36 am

God was just tipping cows.

He missed.

7. Zyquux on August 24th, 2011 3:39 am

Oh look, more topical humor that will date the submission. Will this be funny 5 months from now? Will we even remember what it's talking about? The world may never know. (You read that last sentence in the Tootsie Pop announcer's voice.)

8. Jimmy on August 24th, 2011 3:49 am

Felt it in Ohio. Woke me up…at 2 p.m. What?!? I can't sleep in?

9. Vatonnage on August 24th, 2011 3:56 am

Looks like this earthquake was…
>_>
<_<
Not very effective…

*takes cover*

10. Darkangelsv1 on August 24th, 2011 3:57 am

Nature Power turned into Earthquake!
It doesn't affect Braviary.

11. KungFuDeli on August 24th, 2011 4:00 am

That's just terrible! Having a Slowpoke on top of a Diglett. Think of the poor Diglett cursed to a life of obscurity because it's conveniently shaped and colored like a turd. Now to forever be known as the "Poo of Slowpoke." You have set in motion a lifetime of taunting by other Pokemon, even by Magikarp. Yes Magikarp is useless at first but at-least it can look forward to the life of being a Gyarados and maybe even live to experience being called a Gary "Mother Fucking Oak" Dos. But what does the Diglett have to look forward to? A Dugtrio, two more turds forever stuck to him.

12. KungFuDeli on August 24th, 2011 4:02 am

*looks down shamefully
yeah, I did…

13. Darkangelsv1 on August 24th, 2011 4:07 am

<img src="http://rob.nu/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/grammar_time.jpg">
You are referring to someone's attitude. Therefore, it's you're, since it's a contradiction of You Are.
Right now, you're saying "Diglett, your ridiculous!". So… what's wrong with its ridiculous?
Now you know.

14. SolidScientist on August 24th, 2011 4:15 am

Arguably, given the nature of the Slowpoke Joke, it just gets even funnier as time goes by to the point of near tragedy.

Also, damn you for the images of Mr. Torkoal and Professor Noctowl.

15. Cake Core on August 24th, 2011 4:18 am

Hey NY, whats shaking?

16. SolidScientist on August 24th, 2011 4:22 am

You guys, I heard there was a pretty big Earthquake today!

Apparently now, there are seven continents!

17. The_AntiVillain on August 24th, 2011 4:29 am

being a student in the summer F YEAH

18. EonofAeon on August 24th, 2011 4:48 am

…I didn't feel or notice shit. I live in Cleveland O.o….I was awake then, too.,,

19. EonofAeon on August 24th, 2011 4:49 am

*Wipes Manly Tear* It's so nice to see the kids using the Grammar Hammar responsibly… (YOU WILL NEVER TAKE MY GRAMMAR HAMMAR VABLOO! NEVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR! *is dragged away*)

by CoCostanza….
I'M THE OFFICIAL SLOWPOKE OF HALOLZ! COCOSTANZA, I'M COMING FOR YOU!

23. DTurboKiller on August 24th, 2011 6:16 am

Can't blame you either. Myself, I'm at the westernmost corners of Europe, to the left of Spain (no, that's not a province :/ ).

But then again, we get out tiny share of earthquakes too. Lisbon should be the most dangerous zone but it pretty much happens mostly outside it. They never go above 5.0 though, and that's really rare.

…bah, nothing ever happens over here asides from lack of cash.

24. DTurboKiller on August 24th, 2011 6:18 am

Looks like we just woke up to…

*puts on shades*

…a 7-UP.

YYEEEEAAAHH-- ok that was a bad joke, I need a headache pill from all this hammering.

London riots joke but fun nevertheless.

26. TehVortex on August 24th, 2011 6:27 am

Ditto.

EDIT: And then again from PokeMemes.

27. Nick Soapdish on August 24th, 2011 8:02 am

Take away the "ia" from the end of Virginia and Shawn's first sentence produces an interesting mental picture.

28. spplmj on August 24th, 2011 8:25 am

You kids and your earthquakes, Down here in Louisiana we have constantly watch to make sure that little kid with the green hat and pointy ears doesnt conjure up another hurricane with his magic little ocarina.

29. Link Lab on August 24th, 2011 8:56 am

How the hell did he end in Louisiana? Is there a secret entrance to the Lost Woods there?

30. Darth_Destro on August 24th, 2011 9:38 am

You didn't know? Hyrule is right outside of New Orleans.

It's a nice place, but the castles are a bit gauty, no one uses modern technology, and their chickens are super mean.

And just for the record, I'm a Louisianian, too.

31. Redzeroine on August 24th, 2011 9:42 am

Good thing my team is made of flying types. Earthquake has no effect on flying types.

32. Marzen on August 24th, 2011 9:55 am

Sadface: "MARZ, did you feel the Earthquake?"
Me: "No?"
*Other students later on that were nearby when the earthquake hit*: "OMG DID YOU FEEL THE EARTHQUAKE?"
Me: "…..No?"

33. MasqueNoMercy on August 24th, 2011 10:04 am

earthquake sure affected twitter though… which is weird because twitter is a flying type?

34. TopRattata on August 24th, 2011 10:09 am

My dad was watching the news so I knew about it, but no it's not really that sad.

35. HughbertEsq on August 24th, 2011 10:10 am

I'm a far distance north from you (England) so I only knew of this quake just now

36. HughbertEsq on August 24th, 2011 10:11 am

I have NO IDEA what the Tootsie Pop announcer's voice is
You crazy Americans

37. HughbertEsq on August 24th, 2011 10:13 am

Ehhh? earthquake? Wear I come from the most we have to deal with are a bunch of chavs and Neets wrecking Highstreet

38. Vabolo on August 24th, 2011 10:25 am

Yeah, but the West Coast laid a Smack Down beforehand.

39. Vabolo on August 24th, 2011 10:26 am

Say Portugal instead. You are confusing them!

40. Vabolo on August 24th, 2011 10:27 am

But there isn't any sweet, sweet Delta Blues in Hyrule Castle!

41. Vabolo on August 24th, 2011 10:28 am

I'm actually already back in class.

*Pointing a sword in the air*

ADVANCED EDUCATION, HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

42. Link Lab on August 24th, 2011 10:29 am

I'm even further north than you (Scotland) but I found out yesterday….because I was talking to people near that region on Skype.

43. MasqueNoMercy on August 24th, 2011 10:29 am

… i dont get it?

44. Vabolo on August 24th, 2011 10:30 am

Who the hell is Vabloo?

45. Vabolo on August 24th, 2011 10:36 am

I didn't feel anything, actually, but it may be due to the fact that I live a good 1 077 kilometers away from the epicentre. Fun fact: this old grandmother clock we have in our living room which hasn't worked in ages just started working again after the recent tremor of the Earth got its pendulum going again.

There's no joke there, I just thought I'd share this with you guys.

46. Link Lab on August 24th, 2011 10:38 am

That's impossible! When I left Hyrule, I ended up in Scotland. Then again, I went through the Lost Woods.

You don't need to tell me about the goddamn cucoos. They've tried to kill me on more than one occasion.

47. Vabolo on August 24th, 2011 10:39 am

You know, the jokes they make about the East Coast Earthquake, Smack down is a move that renders ground-type immunity useless…

Okay, how about this: "The Gravity of the situation is affecting them too."

48. Vabolo on August 24th, 2011 10:40 am

It's funny because people destroyed their own community.

49. MasqueNoMercy on August 24th, 2011 10:42 am

ooooh. i was wondering why you were referring to a wrestling television broadcast in this pokemon related conversation

50. Vabolo on August 24th, 2011 10:42 am

I wouldn't mess with Diglett and Dugtrio. They're competent revenge killers.

51. El_bruno on August 24th, 2011 12:32 pm

Never go over 5.0? Pfft! You guys and your pussy earthquakes! A 5.0 over here is practicaly ignored, a 6.0 is felt but doesn't scare off, we need at least a 7.0 for people to start leaving the buildings, and then we go back like nothing happened!

DId I mention that we have a lot of buildings that got almost compretely wasted with a certain 8.8 earthquake and yet haven't colapsed for over a year, even with the over a hundred earthqueakes over 5.0 that we've had after the 8.8?

…..wait a second, I'm commenting in Halolz and I haven't said anything witty yet!? Come on, think!……….

………………

………………………

…………………………………..

……your earthquakes suck!

52. TheArrived on August 24th, 2011 12:43 pm

Diglett is in mah base, shakin' mah grounds.

53. DTurboKiller on August 24th, 2011 2:42 pm

YES! YES!
+1 for actually knowing it.

54. EonofAeon on August 24th, 2011 5:06 pm

It is my name for you, as 'Vabolo' is too stupid of a name :P

55. Tartaurus on August 24th, 2011 5:14 pm

I was asleep. yup.

56. straYDoubter on August 24th, 2011 5:40 pm

I didn't feel it, but I was close. There was only one person in our family who felt it. I'm so jealous! Okay, I'm done whining now. Yay, Slowpoke!

57. straYDoubter on August 24th, 2011 5:42 pm

You say that, yet you take cover. Then again, better safe than sorry

58. BTSnoogans on August 24th, 2011 5:54 pm

I felt it and I was a little shook up about it. ZING! No but seriously, it wasn't bad at all.

59. Fearow on August 24th, 2011 7:13 pm

Earth had a hard time restraining itself when it realized it was the release date for Deus Ex.

60. Red on August 24th, 2011 8:36 pm

I'd ask the same to Toronto

61. Red on August 24th, 2011 8:37 pm

62. TheInsaneWombat on August 24th, 2011 9:31 pm

So many people didn't feel the earthquake and I live in WV. :/
Myself included.

Selective Quaking? :O

63. Vabolo on August 24th, 2011 9:43 pm

I should. They make awesome guitars over there.

64. Vabolo on August 24th, 2011 9:46 pm

Dude, it's a sweet little Muslim village in Chad. Although that's not the actual basis of my Internet name, do some research before dismissing it. They'll throw spears at you.

65. Cake Core on August 24th, 2011 10:40 pm

And D.C.

66. EonofAeon on August 25th, 2011 5:30 am

Yeah well….Your face!

67. TehVortex on August 25th, 2011 10:14 am

The kind of people that went in to claim benefits the next morning forgetting that they'd destroyed the collection office the previous night. Yes, quite the hilarious sort of madness.

68. Cajun Raccoon on August 25th, 2011 10:32 am

I assume by "over here" you mean California. If so then I wouldn't be nervous either seeing as most buildings there are built for that type of thing.

D.C. on the other hand…. Not so much…

69. Cajun Raccoon on August 25th, 2011 10:35 am

I thought it was in Lake Charles… I think the people down there call it L'Auberge du Lac instead of Hyrule though… Hmm….

70. El_bruno on August 25th, 2011 12:32 pm

………..you know that there are more countries besides the USA right? I wouldn't be so surprised, I don't think most of you know about Chil….. ehhh, the Republic of Spexico of North Antartica.

71. ZombieSkull88 on August 25th, 2011 9:12 pm

There was an earthquake in Colorado two days ago as well. 5.3 I believe. Busy Diglett has been busy…

72. Cake Core on August 25th, 2011 9:38 pm

I heard there was a revolution…
……in France

73. Cake Core on August 25th, 2011 9:39 pm

Earth used Gravity!

74. Cajun Raccoon on August 26th, 2011 4:04 pm

Well of course I know that :P

Either way, my point still stands lol.

75. MC Ninja on August 26th, 2011 11:21 pm

Nope, I'm in WV and it scared the hell outta me.

76. WestheAwesome on August 27th, 2011 4:26 am
