Not all modern cartoons are bad, I actually really enjoy adventure time, and so do most of my friends (we're all ages 20+).

Well, I think it's not really because of our age, but because of how the new shows are executed. I mean if you think about it, the cartoons back then took a certain degree of intelligence to understand the jokes, hence why we feel that lack of wit.

See, that's the problem. CN releases a few substandard new shows to replace old ones, and everybody is legitimately unhappy about it, and want their old shows back. Instead of bringing the old shows back, CN replaces those crappy shows with new cartoons, but some people won't even give them a chance and say that they suck without having seen them in the first place, because they're new. This, of course, makes me disappoint in two ways:
1) These shows are for KIDS. If you are a twenty-something year-old and you complain about kids' cartoons not being up to your ADULT standards, read Shortpacked. It'll help.
2) Some of these shows are actually good. Adventure Time, mentionned here, is actually pretty awesome, in its weird crackhead way. Its visual style may seem VERY childish (and it is), but the story elements are fucked up leagues beyond anything you'd expect on a kid's show. And I, for one, think that the (sometimes) surrealist and (very often) dark humor in FlapJack are excellent.
So yes, these new shows have less pop culture references than the good ol' Animaniacs and Powerpuff Girls, but they have so much more to offer. Stop bitchin', start watchin'!

Yes. Simply yes. Adventure Time is actually hilarious and fucked up if you take time to watch a bit. I find this parody to be also hilarious and fucked up. I am satisfied.
Adventure Time, Flapjack, Chowder, and Robotomy are all funny clever shows, I dont get where all this hate is coming from and i was around for old cartoon network and toonami. Everything else on CN is crap though and hot topic leeches off anything good. Like back when liking death note was respectable

Man, what's with all the hate? Yeah, CN is garbage now, but they've still got a couple good shows. Adventure Time is hilarious. I look forward to the new shows on Mondays, and I'm in my 20s. My dad even enjoys the show. Regardless of the fact that its on CN, its definitely not a show aimed for kids. No kid could understand half the jokes on that show. FlapJack was pretty funny, and I've caught myself chuckling at Chowder here and there.
The picture isn't ruining Zelda, either. If anything, its combining two awesome things into one. GET ON YOUR KNEES AND WORSHIP IT!!
Seriously, though, for being old enough to remember the old CN, you guys sure are acting like children. If you want your old CN shows, go watch Boomerang. Simple as that. Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Lab, etc. They're all there.
