One controversial opinion leads to a comments sections worth of bad rep. Those who've read your comments only -1'd your one's against the 'X on Motorcycles' joke, but those who only read your first one just continued to rage against you, as they only see 'OMG TEHY MUST B TROLLLLLLLL!!!'. No matter how you slice it, the internet does not look kindly upon individuality. So, although I can't say I agree with your disapproval of the 'X on Motorcycles' joke, I applaud your willingness to show opinion proudly and take the shit that goes with it.

I really don't think it's just the internet. People are just like that. It doesn't surprise me that my opinions would be criticized like this, but what does surprise me is that it happened here, a place I'm used to getting along with people in despite opinion.

I don't know, although i joined this community recently i saw the older submissions, including comments, and people were getting voted down for no reason as well.
Well, at their core, humans are naturally selfish creatures. Many will try to help others more than themselves, but the majority are concerned with nothing more than their own skin and their own interests. As for the hate from otherwise friendly people, it still falls under the fact that people generally do not like their interests being threatened, i.e. people love that joke, you say it's not funny. But simultaneously, you followed your interests in stating that you felt the joke was no longer funny, falling back on the original point, just as I'm following my own interests of spurting psychological nonsense on a website dedicated to video-game related comical images/videos. Yet, I can hope that people can read this, maybe get a tiny bit of enlightenment or contemplation from it, and maybe move more towards a more accepting ideal.
Damn, maybe those video game morals do affect me…
