If your going to get angry, which a lot of people are, don't get angry with the people with the Cheaters Lament. I never used an idling program, because I considered this unjust, but I had toyed with the idea because I didn't have a hat.
Now… I have a hat. So don't get pissy with me or anyone else with it.
In addition, I'm not sure about the 'deleting all items' idea… I guess deleting all the ones obtained via idling would make sense, or just losing all items for a month, like the last time, but I agree with the halo.

This is not directed at you, per-se, more so just at the idea of the Halo.
The reward for not using the Idler should have been… not getting your stuff deleted. Instead they go and "reward" "95.5%" of TF2 players for doing nothing. I don't see server admins giving non-hackers no-clip when they ban a hacker, so why the heck should people get rewarded for just doing what Valve suddenly considers right?
Heck, anyone with a Halo should be THANKING people that used the Idler. Without it, Valve would have never found an excuse to give them out.
all i have to say is fuck valve. the extra weapons updates were good, but then they put in that random items crap. if the people didn't want to work for their weapons, that sucks for them. i have seen people on tf2 for 200 hours, not get anything, and then people who had just gotten the game and five hats on the first server they join. i had only one hat, it took me at least 5 months to get it, and they delete it.
I honestly can't see how anything good will come out of this.
Valve messed up big time here, letting Steamstats go on for months, then suddenly deciding to label the users as cheaters. Even the guy who made the idler said that he would stop the idling if Valve dropped him a line telling him to stop it.
Still laughed at half of my friends list for this shit, getting all their items over night by idling. I laugh at them since all the shit I got for actually playing was from achivements and duplicates of items I already had and no hats. SO HA HA IDLING FUCKS!
So.. I lose my idling items, but the ones I got from achievements are safe, right?

I'm a Sony fanboy. I played SOCOM through it's popularity and into it's shadowy days now.
Back in SOCOM, 2 and 3 there was a HUGE problem with the ranking system. People got online and would host one-on-one games, taking turns shooting each other in the head with the pistol. This gave them points for headshot, pistol kill, pistol headshot, last man standing, winning the round, and winning the round as the last man standing. Not to mention score bonuses for perfect accuracy and ammo remaining.
These skill-less wonders accelerated to dominate the top hundreds in the scoreboards, and when found in actual matches… sucked.
Idling for the itmes in TF2 is no different than doing that. Doing achievement grinders is no different from that. (going to a match with other people with alltalk on and just helping each other get achievements by intentionally creating the specific circumstances for those achievements to happen). If you can't sit back, play the game, and earn your damn rewards -- don't bitch when the game devs get fed up with people exploiting the system.
