Ash: Can you repair the existing unit? I've got a really awesome Pokemon in there that I'd hate to lose if I got a new ball.
Techie: I can't make any guarantees, but we can see if the data from the Pokemon can be transferred to a copy.
Ash: Sweet. Alright, my serial is 133T-4YFH… Wait, data FROM the Pokemon transferred? Don't you mean data OF the Pokemon?
Techie: Once deployed, the inner workings such as memories and experience will be unmodified. The outer shell will be indistinguishable from the original.
Ash: So… It's a new Pokemon.
Techie: It is a Pokemon that will function as such that the original unit did.
Ash: Original unit DID? What exactly happens to the original unit?
