What, ANOTHER last minute convention?
Yeah, I guess I’m a glutton for punishment these days! And of course by punishment,
I mean taking a trip down to beautiful sunny Florida…
Anyway this one is super last-minute, but on June 19th-21st I will be heading down to Tampa, Florida for METROCON (a convention so awesome it apparently uses caps lock on its own name!)
For this one I’ll be in the artist alley, next to my old pal Brian Clevinger, who is not nearly as menacing and impersonable as he appears. And as always I will have a big pile of stuff from the store, including (possibly) some of the new PEELS shirts which are still in preorder!
So yeah, come on by you crazy Floridians!

Another convention? Ok, after this… I’m taking a freakin’ break!
Well at the very least, this is a very different convention for me! The MoCCA Art Festival is held by the Museum of Cartoon and Comic Art in New York City and is a small-press/indie comics style expo. I don’t expect it to be as big and flashy as some of the other cons I’ve done this year, but there are some great artists that will be in attendance and if you can swing by I think it’s going to be a neat little event!
If you can make it over, it’s being held in New York City on Saturday and Sunday… and I will be at table 327 on the map. Hope to see a few Staccato/Fork You/Halolz fans there!

Well, Fanime and Anime Boston are over! And I’m not even back from California yet… and I have to start talking about A-Kon!
This weekend I’ll be heading out to Dallas, Texas… where I’ll once again be representin’. For this one I’ll be at a small table in the artist alley next to Trunks and (hopefully) I’ll have plenty of cool stuff to sell! (Including a new Halolz shirt which hasn’t even been shown online yet!)
I’ll be interested to see how A-Kon goes this year… it’s been like two or three years since I was there last (well before I had even started Halolz!) Hope to see some readers out there!

Hey guys, it’s news time again! I know, I know… you want LOLZ instead. Sorry, I’ve got a bunch of stuff to get through so bear with me!
First real quick, sorry I slacked a bit on updates over the weekend. I’m usually pretty good with keeping the queue filled, and I’ve actually been really proud that the site has been pretty damn consistent with about three updates a day on weekdays and three over the weekend. So yeah, my apologies!
Secondly, I’m gearing up for some convention madness the next three weeks! To start it off, this coming Memorial Day weekend I will be doing not one, but TWO anime conventions! How is that possible? Well here’s what’s going on:
May 22nd-25th I will be at FanimeCon in San Jose, California. I attended Fanime for the first time last year and had a great time, and I’m looking forward to giving it another shot this year! Like last year I will be in the Artist Alley hanging out with Dave (SNAFU Comics) and Matt, Ian & Jess (Three Panel Soul). And of course I will have NINJA-BOT stuff for sale (flying out to California ain’t cheap ya know!)
Now at the same time (May 22nd-24th), I will have a booth in the Dealers Room at Anime Boston in Boston, Massachusetts. Of course, I won’t actually be there… I’ll be in California! However I have a crack team of NINJA-BOT sales assistants who will be manning the booth and selling Halolz related stuff! Yeah I know, it kinda sucks I can’t be there… honestly I’d like to go to AB as well, but for whatever reason AB moved to Memorial Day weekend this year, and seeing as I’ve attended AB for like, five years in a row, I figured Fanime would be the one to do if I had to skip one.
So yeah, that’s the story on that. Simple right? Well… I’m not done! It’s kind of a last minute thing, but I’m also going to be attending A-Kon in Dallas, Texas the following weekend! It’s a long story, but anyway, I’ll be there! Then the weekend after THAT, the MoCCA Festival in New York City! I know right, I’M FREAKING INSANE to be doing all this. Three weeks… three parts of the country. Really you have no excuse for not stopping by and saying hello!
And since we’re on the subject, I thought I’d answer a quick question I got recently. I was asked why I attend so many anime conventions… and I think that’s a pretty fair question. In 2003 I started attending conventions as an artist for my work on “Staccato,” and one thing I noticed as a webcomic artist was that anime cons tend to be run by really nice people and the attendees really embrace pretty much everything (anime, comics, video games, board gaming, sci-fi, fantasy, horror… whatever!) However comic book conventions were, ironically, not all that great for webcomic artists (I think because they were looked down on, especially six years ago).
But anyway over the years I’ve been attending more and more conventions, and without a doubt the ones I tend to enjoy the most are the anime ones. And really, you don’t even need to like anime to go to these things! (I don’t really consider myself a huge anime guy).
So I guess what I’m saying is… if you’ve never gone to one of these things, you should at least check one out next time there’s one is in your area. They’re actually pretty interesting for video game fans in general (which I’m ASSUMING you all are!)
But yeah, so that’s why I tend to have so many anime cons on my schedule each year. Not that I don’t like going to other types of conventions… for example the MoCCA Festival is an indie comics convention (which will actually be a whole new experience for me); and not to jinx it or anything, but right now it looks like Halolz will have a booth at PAX later this year (possibly the greatest gaming expo out there). So really I just go where I think there’s going to be folks who are interested in the projects I work on… and I guess it’s just a coincedense that anime cons tend to be full of those people!
So anyway I hope that kind of answers that question… and be sure to swing by one of these cons sometime if you can make it! It’s really great meeting readers of the site in person!

What, ANOTHER anime convention? Damn straight! This weekend I’ll be out in Chicago at Anime Central chillin’ with mah homies Scott, Dave, Jen and Brion! We will be kicking it old skool and keepin’ it real in the ACen artist alley, so feel free to stop by and say hello! I promise not to infect you with hamthrax.
As always I will have a big pile of stuff from NINJA-BOT and hopefully I’ll have a new poster as well. Should I put a sneak peek up here? Yeah, why not… here’s a sneak peek:
Thanks to Tina who did the amazing coloring job (that makes my art look about about a hundred times better!) -_-; If I’m lucky I should have about twenty of these posters at ACen… so I may run out quickly! Of course the poster will be available online eventually.
Also on a completely unrelated note, I’ve finally got a new server lined up, and once we get Halolz moved over I can keep working on some of the new Halolz side-projects I keep talking about! I’ll let you know when the server move is scheduled as the site will probably go down for a little while.
And I guess I should also mention that this week hasn’t been too stellar on submissions. I’ll be honest, we haven’t gotten any really amazing ones in this week. I think part of the problem is that the entire submission process needs to be improved a little, so I’m going to work on that tonight and see if I can come up with a new submissions page.

Seriously though, this is a really great anime con and you should check it out!
Also I will be doing one of my hilarious Halolz panels on Saturday at 2pm (I believe). Definitely stop by for that if you’re attending!

Yep, it’s convention time again! I’ll be heading out to two conventions the next two weekends! This weekend I will be at I-CON in Long Island, NY… and then the following weekend I will be at Sakura-Con in Seattle! East coast and then west coast! Really you have no excuse for not going to at least one!
As usual I will have some awesome stuff from Ninja-Bot with me, and also at Sakura-Con I will be doing an updated version of my multimedia Halolz panel (which has been going over really well at the cons).
So yeah, if you can make it out to either con be sure to stop by my booth and say hi!
