Well it took me a while to get them all sorted (also I was busy giving out candy to kids all evening and dressing my daughter up in a bee suit…) but here are the entries we received for the 2008 Pumpkin Carving Contest! Considering the short notice I gave everyone for this first year of doing it, I think the results were awesome! In fact, I thought they were so awesome that I’ve decided that all the entrants will be getting “Honorable Mention” status (which means a prize)! As for the first, second and third place winners… I’ll announce them in the next three posts!

Ha! My Lesbian Mudkips have made it to the front page once more. Doubt the shock factor is as great as first time around, though.
But in all seriousness, I gotta tip my hat to Ian Wagner-Smith’s “Samus hemet” pumpkin. That one is the real winner. Until we see the winning three, I think it deserves more than a Wolf sticker.
Someone cheated on the Death Star one. I’ve seen that *exact* same picture all over the internet, some instances of which are dated well over a year ago. Unless the guy who sent it in can prove he made it, I call for disqualification. Pics or it didn’t happen.
That being said, I think the following 3 should win:
1. First Samus (the one with the face) for the awesomeness.
2. Ganon for the lulz.
3. Hollow symbol purely for the fact that it was my entry.
I actually thought I had seen that one before too… and he wasn’t able to give any proof, but I thought I’d give him the benefit of the doubt.
I will investigate the matter further!
Lekonua may be on to something. I just typed in “Death Star Pumpkin Carving” into Google Image Search and got different versions of the same picture. I’m trying to find a stencil of some sort, but like he said, this may be a false submission; one blog post dates that image back to 2007, so check with the guy.

Yeah I just did a quick search and found it all over the place. If the author wants it to count he’ll definitely have to send in some evidence.
As for now I’m too lazy to take it off the thing… maybe later when I have more time.

I’m trying to flip the mudkip one around in my head and I still can’t see it.
Just click on the link to the original macro I sent in. It may be hard to identify due to the way the bottom Mudkip came out.

I replaced the most likely fraudulent Death Star entry with a last minute entry by Jeremy McClellan. It’s still pending verification, but I get the feeling this one is a little more legit!
Wow… These are awesome. I would’ve made one, but we don’t celebrate halloween here :|. Other than that, I think the Samus face and the MC face should win, they’re both really good. Lets face it though, all of these are super awesome. 5/5 i guess :P

Its a hard choice this year, but that samus 1, DAMN! it should DEFINITELY be in the top 3 IF NOT the best. I also like the RROD. you don’t need to have such complexity to make a hilarious, videogame-themed carving!
and for a third, I like the zelda symbol (on the top). I’m a huge fan of LoZ (and who isn’t?… dont answer that) and it feels wrong that such a flawless carving seems to be overlooked to me since EVERYTHING is going to be seen after it, making it be forgotten easily. I’m not saying that because of the comments, I’m saying it cuz I felt like I forgot it, and had to relook just to realize it was there. It’s noone’s fault, its just a natural thing ppl have to remember.
