TRICK OR TREAT!

Halloween is over, but since we needed a Sunday comic I decided to post this one by TCC and Badonk! The moral of the story? Never trick or treat at the house shaped like a red Landmaster.

[HALOLZWEEN] 1st Place - Mother Brain & Baby Metroid

And finally, our 1st place winner for 2009….. with an overwhelming 23 (out of 24 points)……
Ian Wagner and his awe-inspiring “Mother Brain & Baby Metroid” pumpkin set! Pretty amazing job, right? Well it’s certainly not surprising as he was our 1st place winner in 2008 as well! (with his impressive Samus pumpkin)

For a second year of impressing the Halolz judges, Ian will be getting another mountain of shirts (and other stuff) from Ninja-Bot!

Congratulations… and congrats to everyone for making our second annual pumpkin carving contest a big success! In fact to thank everyone who entered we will be sending out consolation prizes to everyone who entered this year! Just keep watching your email for more info!

[HALOLZWEEN] 2nd Place - Piranha Plant

Mama mia! Add that to the list of things I don’t want to see coming out of my pipes!

Not only is OmeletGood’s “Piranha Plant” (which got 17 points) scary enough to frighten off the neighbors kids, but it brings me back to the classic days of Super Mario Bros! A win-win! And speaking of winning, he won a pile of stuff from Ninja-Bot! Great job!

[HALOLZWEEN] 3rd Place - 3 days…

OH DEAR GOD NO!! Christ I thought that moon was creepy in Majora’s Mask… but as a pumpkin… oh man it’s far worse!

Picking up 3rd place (with 14 points) is TCC’s “3 days…” (which will forever haunt my nightmares). Congratulations, you’ve ruined my life, and earned a little of everything from Ninja-Bot!

[HALOLZWEEN] 4th Place - Candy-spenser

In 4th place (with 10 points), a pumpkin that even comes with it’s own TF2 update page… the “Candy-spenser” by Kyle Schouville! Who needs health and ammo when you can have DELICIOUS CANDY!

To help embrace the deliciousness, Kyle will be receiving a Falcon Lunch shirt along with some other treats!

[HALOLZWEEN] 5th Place (tie) - ODST Hell Jumpers / Spy Sapping My Sentry

5th place was also a tie (at 8 points each) between Nick Everson’s “Halo: ODST Hell Jumpers” and Arhmend and Juusan’s “Spy Sapping My Sentry!”

Props to Nick for his detailed carving design, and Arhmend/Juusan’s creative use of scene (including sparklers for the sapped sentry!) They’ll both be receiving some awesome stickers and pins!

[HALOLZWEEN] 6th Place (tie) - Falcon Pumpkin / Rocket Launcher / PEELS

Our first winners in a three-way tie for 6th place (at 3 points each) are “Falcon Pumpkin” by Pikamari, “I Have A Rocket Launcher” and “PEELS” by BananaDib, Dr. Falcon and Wasabi!

These three entries did a good job of racking up honorable mention points across all the judges with both Halolz references and carving difficulty! Congrats to these three winners who have won some Ninja-Bot sticker packs!

[HALOLZWEEN] Meet The Judges!

Before I start posting our Halloween contest winners, I felt like we should at least go over how the judging worked this year!

This year we had four judges:

Shawn Handyside (halolz.com)	Alyssa Young (redpepperhead.com)	Scott Ramsoomair (vgcats.com)	Tina Pratt (paul-reveres.com)

Each judge was asked to pick their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th favorite entry (in order), along with three “honorable mentions.” Then based on their picks each entry would get a number of points like so:

1st - 6 points
2nd - 5 points
3rd - 4 points
4th - 3 points
5th - 2 points
Honorable Mention - 1 point

Then we tallied up all the points and the pumpkins with the highest scores won! Pretty democratic right? So along with each winner I will be posting the point score the pumpkin got (out of a maximum of 24 points).
