And actually makes sense. The only reason Shawn kept the forums was because a small group used it constantly, and although that was enough to keep it, he probably thinks there aren't enough users interested to waste his time fixing it.
It's also obvious that Shawn does not checks most of the emails he gets (that's how we end up with submissions like our dear Tibbers one, sometimes), so sending emails until he pays attention to us seems kind of useless.
Of course, he may not check the comments for every submission, but I don't see any problem in doing this, unless we actually start to "spam the comments". Hope you were just joking, since you were part of CoF, if only for the pony thread.
