Ok, time for a good ol' Halolz rant.
What the hell happened to the way we vote comments? Don't mean to offend you for using this, but why do people keep voting up any reaction faces, turning them into top comments and hiding much better comments bellow?
In the "Substitute Ocarina" I did an image showing the 4 weird reaction faces we extracted from submissions lately. It wasn't really smart, it wasn't creative and I'm sure any of you could do it in 3 minutes, because I didn't edit anything, just got them in the same image, and I got +85 for that…if it wasn't a reply, it would be the top comment and hide other, much more clever ones.
At least with the Redfield shops I could understand a bit, because they took more than 3 goddamn minutes to make, but just (re)using reaction faces like this time, or even worse, using reaction faces completely unrelated to the submission and getting tons of +1's is just sad.
I've been around Halolz for years, and stopped commenting months ago, because people were taking e-peen too seriously and spamming images just to get more e-peen. A few weeks ago, I came back because I missed the clever comments I used to see as top comments here, and missed people who are not around the forum, only here, and what I see is that images just get thumbed up for no reason, as if no one read comments without them.
It's not Youtube level yet, but we can see it from here.

This is the main reason I started putting the Redface pics in as responses (Haven't main-posted a Redface since Chris Ratatafield). I know a few people despise it, but others absolutely love it, so I still make them, but I try and stay out of the limelight.
Also agree with the copypasta. Redface has been something new in every submission, and once it gets into copypasta territory, I'll lose interest.

Exactly: it's just a reaction face. Not only that, but one that was already used and that is present in a submission made 2 days ago (hell, it's still on the first page for everyone to see).
In the past, comments were as good or better than the submissions, yours was just a repost of PART of a submission we had 2 days ago, it does not matters if it's a suitable reaction, it just adds nothing to the whole thing.
I didn't ask people to give you -1's, just to keep comments that actually add something above all others.

Let's start with the fact that the rant was a reply, not a comment by itself. Then notice how it only has a +19, so even if I made it as a comment, the better ones would still come on top of it.
After that, you may actually read my rant and notice that it's not about me trying to make rules on "how to comment", what would be stupid, but just stating what should be obvious: uninteresting, effortless comments should be ranked lower than clever and funny ones.
Feel free to use reaction image whenever you want, specially if they actually add something instead of being just a shocked face like that, Obama's "Not bad" face (still shocked by how a simple, unrelated and overused reaction image like that got more than 100 points, when better comments didn't get even half of that) or any meme that just expresses the usual reaction to a submission.

The internet isn't super serious business, so I won't take more than a minute or two to think these replies completely over. It's not worth the effort. I'm not gonna have to drag this out more than it's required, so I'll just stick around and drop in my two cents on whatever I want.

Well said, the first few Redfaces were funny but after that it became "First one to make a Redface gets top comment!!!" for nearly every post. Image spamming in general has resulted in a lot less funny comments and a lot more vaguely related images that "speak for themselves, durr hurr!". To 4chan's credit, they can be funny at least.
I used to comment a lot more but people starting taking epeen so seriously like that phase when everyone and their mom was skyrocketed into monocle-hood because they made the comment "Sooo close to 69 guys, give me 100 thumbs up plz!" and the people who responded "I gave you a thumbs up, sir. (now give me almost as many thumbs up guys, I'm a humanitarian!)".
I don't really care about epeen but the thumbs up i get reflect on how much people liked my joke so it's frustrating to see people frivolously throwing it out to completely uncreative comments. It doesn't help that after 30+ comments a lot of people won't even read all the comments and your joke will go unseen.

I actually went through everything you said, and even though this submission is a bit old, I thought I should answer it. Since it's a bit long, I will quote you.

What I said I mind are better comments being hidden bellow others (as halolz uses the number of thumbs up for order), not how much e-peen people get for their comments. E-peen isn't serious, as this reputation system is broken.

People who agreed with me were the ones who have been around for more time, as you can check in their profiles, mostly because they know what I meant about how things were different on the old times here. I doubt any of the veterans cares about e-peen, as everyone who've been around for some time already noticed how broke it is. In fact, I could raise my e-peen by spamming useless comments, as the total number of comments you have also gives you more e-peen, when you already got enough points.
For example: you can reach 100 e-peen if you have only 1 comment made, and it got about +60 points, and still keep the e-peen around 90, even after coutless comments without points. In fact, if I really cared about e-peen, I could make another account to post only my Redfield shops. I doubt any other person would have as much e-peen as this second account, since it's really easy to skyrocket it when you have few comments.

I don't see what makes you conclude that. Just because I criticized a comment for being the type of comment that has been appearing obove better ones, does not makes every comment bellow it better in my opinion. In fact, the ones you mentioned are just better examples of bad ones being ranked high, but I replied to this one because it was the highest ranked.
