I started to argue that then I remembered. The failed transmutation took Ed's leg. I've not watched the series in too long.
well basically, once upon a time, there were the Elric brothers. They learnt alchemy. At some point their mom dies. After that, they improved their alchemy skills to try bringing her back. But it failed. Edward lost his leg, and Alphonse lost his body. then Edward proceeded to try to transfer Alphonse's soul to a suit of armour, losing his arm in the process.
