Staying off-topic, though, that SCUBA thing brings up a funny story… WARNING: impending wall of text.
In seventh grade, my class had a little competition. We were split into teams, and given a series of questions, with two chances to answer correctly. If we answered the question correctly, one of us would attempt to toss a balled-up piece of paper into the trash can for 3 or 2 points, depending on whether or not we got the answer in one try or two.
My team was dumb as a box of rocks. I knew the answer to every question, but we got them all wrong on the first guess, since they refused to listen to me unless they already got the answer wrong. One question was "What does 'SCUBA' stand for?", and I forget the answer they came up with, but it was horrific. Yet one I'll never forget was "Who is the Greek god of the ocean?". Despite my constant assurance that the correct answer was Poseidon, they decided to guess Neptune first. I still remember what I said to them before they answered, verbatim: "Listen, I'm Greek, I know a thing or two about Greek gods. You guys can say Neptune if you want, but I've given you every right answer so far, and you've yet to realize it. If you say Neptune, I refuse to give you any more answers." Of course, they didn't listen to me, so I leaned back to watch them fail the rest of the questions… or so I hoped. Turns out, that was the last question.

When I was six, my dad expected me to be able to tie my shoes perfectly. Now of course I KNEW how to tie my shoes, my problem was maintaining a control over my fingers. My father beat him on the head numerous times after that for not being able to create a solid knot.
Coincidentally the night after, I was watching tv when everyone was either away or asleep. Rugrats was on and I was like "HELL YEAR RUGRATS", so decided to watch that. It was the episode where Chuckie impressed his dad by being able to tie his shoes (actually Angelica doing the work for him) at a young age. I forget exactly what his dad said at the end, but it went something like: "I don't care if you ever learn to tie your shoes, because that doesn't change the fact that you are my son, and I am your father, and I will always love you for that."…

AND said father also threw a computer against the wall (and I was JUST computer savvy enough to put the cables back together…it still worked, so lucky me. Did I mention I wasn't even 13 when most of these events happened? Except the walks home. I WAS 13 then.) I won't mention some of the other idiotic things he's done.
