The Aperture Science Enrichment Center would like to remind you that, while emotional contact with the female of the human species can be emotionally and physically rewarding, it is also very likely to be financially a black hole.

We encourage affection to the Weighted Companion Cube over the Human Female as it offers the same level of emotional gratification, but will never ask for your wallet in return.

  2. Angemon300 on February 14th, 2011 8:34 am

I lost my girlfriend to Diamonds. I only give video games as gifts now.

  3. Vastryn on February 14th, 2011 8:43 am

I'm pretty sure I'd still be in love if she let me co-operatively test her portal once in a while.

  4. Rain on February 14th, 2011 8:44 am

    Now you're gifting with portals

  5. Strike_low on February 14th, 2011 8:58 am

    The video is now diamonds!

  6. Rain on February 14th, 2011 9:02 am

But can it make me a cake sandwich?

  7. C__F on February 14th, 2011 9:03 am

Anything happens when you work for Aperture Science!

    I'm in a test chamber.

  8. Shatman on February 14th, 2011 9:05 am

    One portal is orange.
    The other is blue.
    There are turrets nearby,
    And they can see you.

  9. Dimomarg on February 14th, 2011 9:30 am

I think I may be one tiny step closer to discovering the point of Valentine's day

  10. Vlauer on February 14th, 2011 9:38 am

Totally unrelated, -1 me, If you like, but I think Valentines Day is just pure bullshit. If you're in a happy relationship, every day is like a festival, am I right?

(For the related part, I still think, that Companion Cube would make for an even better gift)

  11. madhatter0082 on February 14th, 2011 9:40 am

"54% of women are allergic to chocolate"

Which is why men should be able to eat it all… for.. um.. the greater good of all humanity?

  12. Jan on February 14th, 2011 9:58 am

Poor stick woman was stuck in a dilemma – smashed by a diamond she could have needed to craft her own ALOHA* to protect her from falling diamonds.

  13. WeegeeDoll on February 14th, 2011 10:13 am

    This video is HIGHLY inaccurate.

Everyone knows that once she finally got that diamond, a Creeper should've popped out of nowhere and exploded, causing her to drop all her precious diamond into lava!

  14. Leo E. on February 14th, 2011 10:15 am

*wondering if Shawn ever got that Valentine's day submission he told me to make 5+ months ago*

  15. Leo E. on February 14th, 2011 10:22 am

It kinda is. It's another one of those "holidays" that aren't actually holidays (while looking for a card, I stumbled across other "holidays" like "Minister Appreciation Day"). Some people say it was invented solely to sell greeting cards and promote consumerism, and while that probably wasn't true when it was created, it's the only reason it's still around.

So I deal with it. It's clearly not going anywhere, and she wanted to do something today anyway (works out well for me, I had nothing to do today in the first place).

  16. RemielChibus on February 14th, 2011 10:41 am

In the event of an anomalous response, the Weighted Companion Cube will be made available as treatment for your emotional fragility. Aperture Science would like to remind you that the Thermal Discouragement Beam is not a suggested response gift to rejection, but would enjoy recording the result if chosen as a course of action. For science.

  17. Mentlegen on February 14th, 2011 11:00 am

I guess i have to agree with you.

After all YOU are the stick man.

  18. Mentlegen on February 14th, 2011 11:02 am

The Enrichment Center is required to remind you that if you vote this less than 5 you will be baked, and then there will be cake.

    You monster.

  19. MorningMoon on February 14th, 2011 11:22 am

    So, basically:
    Portal 2 = Love
    <3

  20. _Nate_ on February 14th, 2011 11:24 am

Portal 2 is now available for preorder?!
*Goes to steam page to preorder*
*Realizes it still isn't able to be purchased*

    I'm not even angry.
I'm being so sincere right now.

  21. GameboyPATH on February 14th, 2011 11:36 am

Since she checks Halolz every now and then, I'll use my comment to tell my special one this:

I love you, weighted companion cube. <3

  22. Shawn Handyside on February 14th, 2011 11:53 am

    I will look!

  23. Daifuku on February 14th, 2011 11:56 am

The Enrichment Center would like to remind you that "Bring Your Significant Other To Work Day" also coincides with Valentines Day and is an excellent time to have them apply for a position in our Testing Department!

  24. Ichiinu on February 14th, 2011 12:10 pm

Even though your broke my heart and delayed her.
    And tore dreams to pieces.
And threw every piece into a fire.

  25. BoxeyBrown on February 14th, 2011 12:20 pm

    Can't argue with those facts…

  26. Shatman on February 14th, 2011 12:28 pm

I agree, it's bullshit. So I go around with a needle and lighter (for balloons and stuffed animals, respectively.) all day.

  27. Leo E. on February 14th, 2011 12:42 pm

I can put it up on Photobucket and send it to you in a Twitter PM, if need be.

  28. TCC on February 14th, 2011 1:17 pm

I choose to only recognize today as another Monday, but if you want to know the real reason we celebrate, it's sorta celebrating the secret marriages that St. Valentine did. The king of the place St.Valentine was in didn't want soldiers getting detracted by a wife or something like that, thus the secret marriages… I'm paraphrasing, and it's supposed to sound much more romantic (thus the romantic themes of valentines day) but I kinda don't care that much. :I

  29. GameboyPATH on February 14th, 2011 1:32 pm

    …giggity?

  30. Oddwan on February 14th, 2011 1:41 pm

Valentine's Day was introduced to Sweden in 1968(or -58) by a retail business, inspired by american culture, for commercial reasons. However, the holiday first made its way into the swedish calendar in the 1990's. In Sweden Valentine's Day is called "Alla hjärtans dag" which means (if translated directly to english) "Every hearts' day".

    Happy Every Hearts' Day everyone!

  31. Fuzzy_Alfalfa on February 14th, 2011 2:41 pm

  35. Alpar on February 14th, 2011 3:08 pm

  36. Alpar on February 14th, 2011 3:10 pm

Okay… looks like someone doesn't appreciate the more commercialized reasons for Valentine's day. Time to be logical and-

  40. Red on February 14th, 2011 4:14 pm

    Thanks :D

  47. Daifuku on February 14th, 2011 7:17 pm

I think that would be more of a pie actually…

  48. zeldafan8 on February 14th, 2011 8:27 pm

And we get to celebrate the day that he was killed with chocolate and cards and gifts. I'm sure he'd feel great about that.

On a side note; I think it was partially because they did not want catholics to be married and raise children to be catholics as opposed to the soldier thing. They probably couldn't care less about the emotional state of their soldiers; and if anything it probably would have given them a better reason to stay alive and fight better.

In conclusion ZF concurs completely with Vlauer.

  49. 3K9 on February 14th, 2011 10:17 pm

Just as long, the cube won't stab you,
    Everyone will love you!

  50. Tael on February 15th, 2011 2:19 am

  53. NekoKnight on February 15th, 2011 4:47 pm

Consider it like a test day where your relationship skills are evaluated. I wish I could give my teacher a rose so she would pass me on my midterm. Pride? What I need is an A right now.
