SNOW DAY? NO SCHOOL?! I CAN FINALLY CATCH UP ON SCHOOL WORK! ALTHOUGH I SHOULD PROBABLY FINISH THAT CASTLE FIRST...

And that’s how Minecraft claimed 80% of our nation’s college students, wasting a perfectly good snow day.

Castle? Bah. I am building a giant Gurren around my spawn. I will live in its face.

  2. Paulrus-Keaton? on February 2nd, 2011 8:39 pm

Fuck. Now I want to play Minecraft.

  3. Paulrus-Keaton? on February 2nd, 2011 8:41 pm

    ……wow.
One would say that is awesome.
I would dismiss it as being nerdy.
But I'll compromise that it is awesomely nerdy.

Minecraft: The TVTropes of PC Games

  5. GameboyPATH on February 2nd, 2011 8:43 pm

    "It's a trap!", indeed.

  6. £cake on February 2nd, 2011 8:45 pm

Or is TVTropes really the Minecraft of the internet?

  7. Paulrus-Keaton? on February 2nd, 2011 8:47 pm

Also, the caption reminded me of the opening joke to Yahtzee's review of Minecraft. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-
I know you've already seen it. Shut face.

  8. MagmarFire on February 2nd, 2011 8:47 pm

    I don't have Minecraft. :(

But I did pretty much spend the day playing Tales, so it's all good.

  9. Uzumakiclan43 on February 2nd, 2011 8:48 pm

Ironic that this would be posted on a day from when the power in my house turned back on after being off for four hours. From an ice storm that my college never had a day off from. *sobs*

  10. Twilizer on February 2nd, 2011 9:01 pm

Have you ever procrastinated so much (Playing Minecraft of course) that you fall behind on an important project? Just follow these simple steps to save yourself from getting that embarrassing grade in class!

-Make something amazing about your project in Minecraft

-Make a ton of pictures so it takes up pages (That is if your project requires a set number of pages.)

-Do a little one page summary of the object and what it has to do with your project.

-Enjoy free 100's! (Or at least a 90 or something…)

  11. Fearow on February 2nd, 2011 9:02 pm

Already have been for the past 40 something hours. @_@

  14. doepker on February 2nd, 2011 9:05 pm

I think that Minecraft should be a requirement for any architechture major. That way, you're technically doing homework.

  15. Angemon300 on February 2nd, 2011 9:06 pm

    Minecraft is and always was

    *5 minutes later*
    Was I doing something?

  17. tmotom on February 2nd, 2011 9:09 pm

Actually, I started my AP Stats homework, finished my castle and then finished my Stats homework.

  18. Vabolo on February 2nd, 2011 9:12 pm

I know, right? When you went to elementary school, you couldn't wait for snow, that icy and beautiful liberator, to cancel your boring classes when it arrived in massive quantities, making the banks metres high. But now that you're in college, you stop rejoicing quite fast when you realize that it just means that traffic is going to be Hell, frozen over or not, and start remembering the simpler days of your younger youth, when all your worries were light and blurry, like the snowflakes falling from the skies above, one by one…

  20. Red on February 2nd, 2011 9:21 pm

Today I built a castle, and am 90% finished a home, dug down into a mountain* (just 3 rooms though).
    I can totally relate

    *fuck yeah

  23. DM1293 on February 2nd, 2011 9:23 pm

I'd like to reiterate my earlier comments of "I spent time building shit I can't save" and "most of it being lava-heated homes".

  24. Red on February 2nd, 2011 9:24 pm

But, teacher, the creeper blew up my homework! I swear on the almighty Falcon!

  29. Kam_Fakami on February 2nd, 2011 9:45 pm

Now, I don't abuse the word epic like Mel Gison beats his wife, but on truly special occasions, that is the only word capable of descibing things. It is epicly awesome, while having a tinge of nerdy.

  30. Darth_Destro on February 2nd, 2011 9:47 pm

Being from the Deep South, I have to ask: What is snow?

  31. Rain on February 2nd, 2011 9:54 pm

Gonna take a looooooot of wood for this thing. Deforestation, ho!

  40. Sir_Nox on February 2nd, 2011 10:18 pm

Bah, you can learn plenty in Minecraft.

This is a cube, a three-dimensional shape made up of six square faces. Each cube in minecraft has the dimensions of ___ feet length and width. So, this giant phalicy, which we will assume is has the dimensions of ___ x ___, would be made out of how many blocks of Gold?

There, you just learned some Geometry while building a giant golden penor.

Also, should I be weirded out by the fact that I just spent this whole snow-day playing minecraft and just got off of it to find this submission?

  41. Red on February 2nd, 2011 10:23 pm

in appropriate quantities, snow is the greatest thing in the world
In less then the above amount, it is a dissapointment,
in greater amounts then above, it is a total pain in the ass

  42. quaker171 on February 2nd, 2011 10:24 pm

Somebody give me a link to something insanely funny. I desperately need to laugh right now.

  50. JesterJoe on February 2nd, 2011 11:19 pm

WHAT? HOW DID YOU GET +4?

I….am shocked…..more shocked then when Vgcats actually updates

  51. Spolin on February 2nd, 2011 11:23 pm

Only issue with that is Minecraft and physics only glance at each other every once and a while, pretty much any time you find yourself 40 blocks in the air. But most of the time, floating castles.

  52. JesterJoe on February 2nd, 2011 11:23 pm

What? A castle? Pffft, more like underground house. My backyard is a cavern.

  53. Alpar on February 2nd, 2011 11:30 pm

    >Get snow day at school today

    >See this submission

SHAWN ARE YOU READING MY MIND.

  54. FungiGamer on February 2nd, 2011 11:33 pm

I wouldn't be laughing so much if this wasn't specifically what I said several days ago during a snowstorm….

  58. Deep Thought on February 3rd, 2011 12:09 am

Agreed. However, subzero temperatures, a rather big change from the snow that I'm used to back home (home at Buffalo, college at Potsdam,) are not fun in the slightest.

Tear ducts freezing is probably one of the more painful experiences I have ever faced

  59. Zyquux on February 3rd, 2011 12:11 am

You must be very shocked then, considering Super Effective updated.

  60. werewolfsfury on February 3rd, 2011 12:14 am

you must be really deep south because we get snow in texas

  61. JesterJoe on February 3rd, 2011 12:15 am

  95. Tadferd on February 3rd, 2011 4:38 pm

Yeah, it's this wonderful place with grass and sand and lots of water! Most of the time it's really bright because of a giant fireball in the sky and friendly animals frolic about and fall off cliffs.

  96. werewolfsfury on February 3rd, 2011 5:12 pm

well a LITTLE more then that but it did snow on my birthday once and my birthdays in april!

  97. khodo63 on February 3rd, 2011 7:37 pm

I'd have to agree. I had to shovel so much damn snow, just for my parents' cars. Mine is part of the yard itself at this point. I'm in Oklahoma and it feels like tons, but apparently my friend in Maine gets it like that all the time.

  98. tmotom on February 3rd, 2011 7:50 pm
