Well, I mean, now I know I'm not supposed to, but… hiding just one heart in this jar couldn't be all that bad, right? I mean, it's not like he'll even make it back here.

Yeah, while they're having their meeting all the good guys are raiding the castles, so, get ready bosses, they kinda picked up at least 10 lives since no minions were there to annoy them.
"Fine boss. Your power-ups don't deserve to be hidden in my blocks. But they may make a good coaster for my drink."

It's kind of hard to defend against companions that can eat you…such as Yoshi or Kirby.
If you honestly have to hide power ups hide them out of reach Super Villainy 101 Taunt your foe. I mean c'mon where are they gonna find a springy robot launching device, flying cape thingy, or something that squeezes you into a tiny ball that can roll under something. Pfft.
