Al qaeda used Plane! It’s super effective!

It worries me that Nick Soapdish sits around at home thinking up 9-11 themed Halolz submissions…

    oh, this is bad…

  2. Koth on September 11th, 2008 9:09 pm

    This one just sucked.

  3. reconer45 on September 11th, 2008 9:10 pm

    First Star Fox Now THIS!? I respect the ones who died.

  4. MexicanJuice on September 11th, 2008 9:11 pm

    HAHAHAHA!!! This one’s even better than the Star Fox one!

  5. Soup on September 11th, 2008 9:13 pm

    ahaha oh my god. i cannot believe halolz today. this is epic tragedy.

  6. AquaLink on September 11th, 2008 9:14 pm

    omg people have a sense of humor. damn, you can laugh at hitler slaughtering jews and hiroshima killing thousands of japanese, what makes this any different? i think it’s hilarious.

  7. Lekonua on September 11th, 2008 9:15 pm

    Ah. I love the smell of controversy in the evening.

  8. Soup on September 11th, 2008 9:15 pm

    let me clarify that these lightened my day, and also that i dont feel bad at all, and im not going to hell either.

  9. Douche on September 11th, 2008 9:17 pm

    douche

  10. Dragoon on September 11th, 2008 9:20 pm

    @ Aqualink
    Your comment proves that you have no brain. First off, Hiroshima is the name of the place where the AMERICANS dropped the A-bomb. Second, it’s not hilarious. This is beyond stupid. Don’t you or anyone else tell me to forget this event because it is the reason why we are at war with terrorism. Before the day ends, I demand to hear an apology from both Halolz and all the people who actually “like” this.

  11. Orion Fury on September 11th, 2008 9:22 pm

    Dragoon, I think you might be waiting for awhile…

  12. Spolin on September 11th, 2008 9:22 pm

    @Dragoon
    So only things that happen to Americans can never be used in a joke? Not to be mean or anything, just want a little clarification.

  13. Klu on September 11th, 2008 9:23 pm

    seriously wtf?

  14. MasqueNoMercy on September 11th, 2008 9:24 pm

    wow… i was fine with the ever increasing percentage of toilet to clever humor on this site… but now we degrade to this?

    really?

    is this really what the moderators of this site find humorous? very disappointing…

  15. Junes on September 11th, 2008 9:25 pm

    @AquaLink
    Who the fuck was even laughing at that? You’re the only one that brought up that shit. You’re fucking retarded.

  16. Jusenkyo on September 11th, 2008 9:26 pm

    wtf? What next, a picture of a school shooting with someone yelling “boom! headshot!”? This shit is getting down right disgusting. I hope whoever made this as well as the Starfox one die in a fire. Or better yet, a plane crash.

  17. Haywire on September 11th, 2008 9:27 pm

    Bush used Invade Iraq!
    It’s not very effective…

  18. mr ownage on September 11th, 2008 9:28 pm

    dude im going to hell BBQs on me, this one is better then the starfox one (side note: this is the first halol that made me actually laugh out loud) and to all the dicks crying foul, get over it this is some funny shit

  19. Will on September 11th, 2008 9:34 pm

    @Aqualink
    Who (that isnt a tad sadistic) is laughing at Hitler and Hiroshima? I don’t find either funny.
    @Dragoon
    I doubt you get your apology
    @Spolin
    I dont think he (or she) meant bad stuff just happening to Americans. I think any tragedy isn’t funny no matter who it happens to.
    @Junes
    Settle down man, be cool, people did find this funny (though i didn’t)
    @(well actually this is what i think of the picture)
    I just thought it was pretty tasteless
    clever
    but tasteless

  20. MexicanJuice on September 11th, 2008 9:34 pm

    I applaud the moderators for posting this. Free speech is free speech, even if no one likes it!

  21. Havok on September 11th, 2008 9:34 pm

    This was hilarious. You people have to realize it’s only a joke!!! Do you really think the ones that died this fateful day would want you to feel bad for them forever? Of course not! This kind of humor is something they’d probably appreciate, rather than everyone feeling sad the entire day.

  22. rikumelenium on September 11th, 2008 9:35 pm

    these latest two submissions are seriously messed up. no 9/11 jokes. too many people died because of that, and it should always be taken seriously.

  23. mr ownage on September 11th, 2008 9:35 pm

    @jusenkyo iv got just the pic for that, thanks for the springboard

  24. Nick Soapdish on September 11th, 2008 9:36 pm

    This is more political satire, stating how one tiny organization caused huge flow on effects that have involved countless countries and much larger events like wars.
    Also Mr Handyside may I just say you have a hell of a lot of balls to post these. Props to you sir.

  25. MexicanJuice on September 11th, 2008 9:37 pm

    Too many people died? My ass! Way more people have died in wars, yet people seem to have no problem with war jokes. Hypocrytical arses.

  26. Romak on September 11th, 2008 9:38 pm

    Oh, god… Hell’s officially standing room only, folks. 4/5

  27. connor123 on September 11th, 2008 9:38 pm

    I must say that you have a hell of a lot of balls to actually think of making this garbage.

  29. Soggywafflz on September 11th, 2008 9:41 pm

    @ Aqualink
    1) Who actually makes jokes about hiroshima and the A-bomb? I have yet to hear one.
    2) People usually dont make fun of Hitler killing Jewish people. Its usually jokes about Hitler or hitler not liking the jews
    3) You may not think this but events closer to home really affect you more than events happening on the other side of the world. All 3 are horrible events nonetheless but the impact of the disaster seems greater since it is directed towards us
    4) Why do you think it is hilarious?

  30. killercartoons on September 11th, 2008 9:44 pm

    @Spolin
    yeah, ummm, i dont think the holocaust or hiroshima were funny or should be laughed at. im sure japanese or jewish people are not too fond of though jokes either.
    &
    @Jusenkyo & @Junes
    seriously this is just going down hill….

  31. Hajs5 on September 11th, 2008 9:52 pm

    For Dragoon: We aren’t fighting in Iraq because of 9/11(Al queda didn’t even do it! It was another terrorist thingy) We are fighting in Iraq for bush to finish what his dad started.

  32. B-mac on September 11th, 2008 9:53 pm

    @Nick Soapdish
    I hope you have a third one of these. They are downright FUNNY! Nice work!

  33. Trent Gear on September 11th, 2008 9:54 pm

    Entirely tasteless.

  34. BONK! on September 11th, 2008 9:58 pm

    Wow. Nuff said.

  35. Dragoon on September 11th, 2008 9:59 pm

    Hajs5, we ARE fighting in Iraq because of 9/11. After the events of this tragedy, Bush began a war on terrorism first in Afghanistan to search for Osama, the leader of Al queda. We were then given false intel about there being WMDs in Iraq, but of course, nothing. That is why we are at Iraq today, not because our president wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps. We are still at war searching for Osama because of his crimes, including the aforementioned attacks on the World Trade Center.

  36. Halolz on September 11th, 2008 10:09 pm

    Who cares about Bush?

    Or politics, in general.
    Or religion.
    Or socialism.

    This is satire. Deal with it.

  37. Onishii on September 11th, 2008 10:10 pm

    Woah, flame war!

    Man guys, just chill. It’s a picture; how is this much different from watching a guy fall on ice and break right through? It’s a jab at others’ pain, which some of us find amusing.

  38. Mr. FluX on September 11th, 2008 10:12 pm

    Now I’m really going to hell.

  39. krazykid3361 on September 11th, 2008 10:12 pm

    I dont post often but I’m a regular at this site and still will be I do admit these last two posts were a bit to soon Mr. Handyside atleast you could have waited for a different date not the 7th anniversary of this tragedy. Deep down when I saw these I laughed inside. It was wrong I admit that but I’m not going to hell just because I have a sense of humor.

    @Nick
    Shame on you for making these even if they were funny.

  40. MrSpaceCowboy on September 11th, 2008 10:15 pm

    When it happens in America it’s a tragedy of the greatest magnitude, but when it happens in Africa or the Middle East, it’s just Tuesday.

  41. James Rupuk on September 11th, 2008 10:15 pm

    wow………..lol 5/5

  42. Hirofox on September 11th, 2008 10:17 pm

    Everyone who’s taking this so seriously needs to chill. Namely Dragoon.
    Yes, it’s distasteful, but it’s not NEARLY as bad as how the chans dedicated 9/11 (this year it was so unspeakably bad that I’m not even going to provide a link. o_o;)
    At least Halolz is trying to be funny with it, and trying to make people laugh on an anniversary of tragedy. It’s not worth “OMG IM OFFENDED APOLOGIZE NAO BIATCH”.

  43. Spaceman on September 11th, 2008 10:17 pm

    @Hajs5
    We launched a War on Terrorism after that. Don’t act like you know shit dumbass.

  44. gunsandblades on September 11th, 2008 10:19 pm

    why does shawn allow theese? people are just gonna bitch and bitch and bitch about how offensive this is because a plane hit a yank building 6 years ago, just forget about it and laugh man, this is actually funny

  45. Nick Soapdish on September 11th, 2008 10:20 pm

    @B-Mac
    Unfortunately this is all I’ve come up with. I’m sure I’ll find something else that will make as many people laugh as people find offensive.
    Causing controversy on halolz? All I can say is, “Mission Accomplished”

  46. Humberto the Merciless on September 11th, 2008 10:31 pm

    I was okay with the first one, but having both of these is pushing it… I’m all for satire but I think that posting one of these was enough.
    Also not actually that funny, and what’s up with some parts of the pokémon screen being blurry and others rather sharp? At least make the numbers on the level the same size… 1/5 for bad editing.

  47. killercartoons on September 11th, 2008 10:33 pm

    It’s a jab at others’ pain”? are you kidding me? seriously? youre going to compare someone getting hit in the nuts to hundreds of people dieing in a fiery blast, and a falling building? im sure the kids who lost their parents that day are laughing their heads off!
    man, i cant wait to see people getting beheaded and raped! i mean, as long as we can tie it into a witty video game reference! that’s going to be best day ever! right guys!? i mean, i am right, right? that is what you think is funny right?

  48. Pigeon Army on September 11th, 2008 10:37 pm

    @Nick
    I’m struggling to see exactly how this is political satire, and if it is, it’s just not funny. Mainly because of the tragedy, but the barrel roll one wasn’t funny period, whereas this at least has some semblance of originality. I agree that it’s wrong to exploit the tragedy, and I am, quite frankly, disgusted, but that’s just me, and who am I to impose my views by screaming “OMG BAN DIS SHIT BANHAMMA BANHAMMA!!!!11!”?

    I may disagree with what you say, but I will fight to the death for your right to say it.

    @Pigeon Army
    I completely accept your views and thanks for the intelligent and calm response.
    I’m not really trying to exploit, (like people who set up fake charities over the event or people who made movies and documentaries about it!). I don’t believe people should be insulted for finding it funny or people be insulted for finding it funny. I completely support people who hate or like it.
    To be honest my only intentions (with all submissions) is just to make people laugh.

  59. Josh on September 11th, 2008 11:03 pm

    @Soggywafflz
    Yes I have heard hiroshima jokes. Yes I have heard MANY jokes about Hitler killing the Jews. Nobody here is disrespecting those who were lost, harmed, or who know people who were lost or harmed on 9/11. While this is not really in good taste, let’s face it, most of the stuff we laugh at isn’t exactly politically correct.

  60. Hirofox on September 11th, 2008 11:06 pm

    @Josh
    Exactly. Some people are still far too sensitive. This is one of the reasons why race is still such a touchy subject, and it’s most of why this is too. People just can’t lighten up and laugh. They think they need to be miserable on a day that’s dedicated to remembrance and reflection, and not misery and agony.

  61. Hirofox on September 11th, 2008 11:08 pm

    Additionally, as politically incorrect as this pair of images is… It’s still remembrance and/or reflection.

  62. Romak on September 11th, 2008 11:09 pm

    Thank you, Josh, Hirofox, and all who agree with you for being intelligent and reasonable.

  63. Dan on September 11th, 2008 11:13 pm

    It would defy the first amendment to say that anything can’t be said and I’m opposed to censorship in all forms. That said, this is just horrible. This isn’t a battle between free speech and political correctness, it’s just awful.
    You know how there is this media image that all video game players are homicidal maniacs and that the Columbine kids were completely innocent until they played Doom? (You know, completely in defiance of all of the facts of the case?) Well things like this pic only give those sort of people fuel for their arguments. Soapdish, I join the ranks of those who wish you would die in a fire. To be clear I’m not saying this pic should be taken down — freedom of speech is paramount — but I still wish that you would die in a fire.

  64. Hirofox on September 11th, 2008 11:17 pm

    Y’know, I still say that if a video game is enough to turn you into a crazed homicidal maniac… You… Don’t really deserve to even own/play video games in the first place. <_<;

  65. Evitron on September 11th, 2008 11:18 pm

    I’d say something but I risk going to Ultra Hell.

  66. Hirofox on September 11th, 2008 11:20 pm

    Also, I remember that Ness/Hindenburg picture a few weeks back, and how few counter-remarks it got compared to this.

    The Hindenburg tragedy was the 9/11 of the early 20th century. ._.

  67. Hariku on September 11th, 2008 11:24 pm

    I honestly don’t find this to be funny at all.

  68. Atrevs on September 11th, 2008 11:24 pm

    Frankly, we live in a country where our leaders are using the memories of these attacks and the fear that followed them to push through their narrow-minded, racist agenda.

    Last time I checked, nobody’s died because of Halolz.

  69. smashpro1 on September 11th, 2008 11:24 pm

    so these things are all we have to celebrate 1 year of Halolz?

  70. Hirofox on September 11th, 2008 11:26 pm

    I wouldn’t go so far as to call it racist, but yes, that’s 3/4 of why Gee Dubya got his second term. Fear-mongering has become a political campaign staple.

  71. Hirofox on September 11th, 2008 11:27 pm

    … Oh! I forgot about that! I need to finish my mashup poster!

  72. Atrevs on September 11th, 2008 11:30 pm

    Would we have the “war on terror” if the people who attacked us were white? If they were Christian fundamentalists?

    It may not be out-and-out racism like the lynch mobs in the South were, but it’s very easy to dehumanize the “enemy” because they aren’t “like us.” If the number of civilian casualties in Iraq and Afganistan happened anywhere else, there’d be much more of a national outcry than there is.

  73. Hirofox on September 11th, 2008 11:32 pm

    True, but we’ve never discriminated against them for their race. Just for their motives. That’s why ignorance kills.

  74. MasqueNoMercy on September 11th, 2008 11:33 pm

    ya know… just because some people are using the memory improperly doesn’t make it okay for everyone to use it

    Probably because I saw it first. XP

    And yeah, peeps gettin their panties in a bunch need to chill… Dwelling on your misery/pain/political correctness/inflated morality ego/etc won’t help anything. Lightening up and laughing about it beats the shit out of being depressed over it. That doesn’t mean you can’t respect other people. Chillax!

  78. Dan on September 12th, 2008 12:16 am

    As for the Hindenburg joke comparison, there aren’t people still dealing with those issues today. It was tasteless to be sure, but not as relevant. Some of us know people that died on 9/11, not so much for Hindenburg passengers. I live far away from NYC and I still know someone who died because they couldn’t be air-cared to get hospital treatment that day. The twin towers attacks aren’t a barrel of laughs, and it makes me loose no small amount of faith in humanity to have to say that.
    I’m through blaming Nick Soapdish though. I blame Shawn for posting it, as he no doubt was aware this would happen. I don’t wish that he dies in a fire, but I would hope he shows some restraint in future in the hopes of preserving a more lighthearted humor for Halolz.

    September 11 is where we should mourn the losses of those people who died….. in america…. But in australia, we have a great time taunting people on xbox live, and laughing how that americains can`t see a huge plane coming towards one of the largest structures in the world!!!

  96. Paulrus on September 12th, 2008 2:16 am

    9/11 is no more than just propaganda now.

    However, Nick should know better than to make these. It’s just too soon, I think.

    Try reading this.

    One way I’ve found to deal with discrimination is to just brush it off and joke about it, even make fun of myself. When you get upset and angry, that’s kinda what some people want.

    I log on to the site after not visiting for a while, and I see this…. it’s not that they’re bad submissions, it’s just some people get easily offended….
    then again, it’s the internet, so get over it ya whiny babies.

  107. nonyabsns on September 12th, 2008 4:39 am

    Oh no what a horrible tragedy! *sarcasm*
    what? Like 2700 people or something died that time?
    Do you even realize how many child soldier die? Do you know how many children starve to death each year in third world countries? Or innocent civillians that die in wars fought for stupid political reasons? These are all things made fun of ocasionally on the internet.
    Yet you people are whining about 2700 people dying in an act of terrorism? give me a fucking break you fucking hypocrites. It’s only because its so close to home that your whining about it.
    Wanna know my reaction when I heard of the attacks? I just thought another bunch of people added to the list of deaths in this world.
    You people should start holding all human life with the same value.

    Now about this picture. I think its hilareously clever.
    maybe I am a bad person, but alteast im not a retarded hypocrite.

  108. nonyabsns on September 12th, 2008 4:44 am

    Oh one more thing. I must say i was really pissed when the attacks happened. wanna know why?
    cuz they cancelled my favorite show just to play the same damn video of the towers for HOURS!!
    seriously. no need to show the same thirty second clip every two minutes.

  109. Riot on September 12th, 2008 4:49 am

    @Dragoon
    The war on terrorism…. started before this event. Your failure to acknoledge who your enemies ware, what led to this event. Your war against terrorism…. started the day terrorism was created, for terrorism is the enemy of everything and everyone.

    There ware many disasters in the course of history; if People, especially the west, use those disasters for entertainment. Give me one disaster at the course of history- extinction of dinusaurs, fall of roman empire, rise of the mongols, holucust hiroshima… anything, and i bet i can find you how ppl made entartaiment out of it. Hell, find me entartaining thing and i will tell yyou what disaster it is related too! you enjoy others disaster, so stop being a hypocrite. say it isn’t funny if you must (it isn’t) but just because its related to 9/11? Hypocrite.

  110. Kuromatsu on September 12th, 2008 4:51 am

    I’m impressed at the massive amount of comments this has spawned. to hell if anyone here reads them all.

    Yes I’ll start being retarded now:
    1. I’d throw a effin master ball @ that.
    2. why is it male?
    3. is it shiny?

  111. Solar Zero on September 12th, 2008 5:01 am

    In death, we apparently find lots of humor. I’ll laugh now, but this doesn’t mean I find the day not to be sad.

    I just happen to find it nice that some people can stop going emo every year on the day that this happened. It’s done people.

    I still find this slightly funny <__<;; I’ll probably be killed by my friends when they realized I said this too, so I’ll put this in another context: If this was any other building or place, and they used the exact same thing, in which they made fun of an event in which millions upon millions of people had died, I’d still say it’s funny and comment on the idea. Shit, I found it possible to make fun of Heath Ledger when everyone got sad about him dying, AND HE WAS ONE FREAKIN’ PERSON!

  112. Miketuu on September 12th, 2008 5:17 am

    Wow… I was expecting all the negative comments but, seriously, calm down! I remember on comedy central about a sketch done on 9/11, guess what? EVERYBODY laughed.

  128. Frau on September 12th, 2008 11:02 am

    Personally I found this one and the other one quite amusing.

    Thirty or forty years after 9-11, people are going to be making even more jokes out of this even while you guys (The ones who are getting so mad over this) are going to get offended over it. Panicking and getting angry over a joke just because it happened close to home is what I find offending seeing how worse things have happened in history that people don’t get as offended about.

  129. Spartacus1013 on September 12th, 2008 12:00 pm

    Its funny because a lot of people died right there in that picture. GET IT?!

    Stop this shit, please. Stop posting ignorant shit like this. It’s not ok. There are children out there without mothers and fathers because of 9/11 and you sit here posting pictures trying to make light of it. It’s not ok.

  130. Metal Chocobo on September 12th, 2008 12:05 pm

    @nonyabsns
    I completly agree with you, we all just think the things happening around us or close to us are the things that matter most, but in reality, we have it good. People are starving around the world, dieing in wars, while we sit back and enjoy pizza on a couch watching TV. Sure, Halolz was an ass for posting something like this [you too Nick] but they do have freedom of speech, and i respect that.

  131. Solar Zero on September 12th, 2008 12:11 pm

    @That Guy: We get that… and it’s kinda like that.

  132. Jacob Allen on September 12th, 2008 12:15 pm

  133. Rodrigo on September 12th, 2008 12:17 pm

    If you don´t like it, please go out from the internet.

  134. Kevin J. on September 12th, 2008 12:24 pm

    @Sane
    eh, I’ll see you there :P
    @everyone who is getting offended.
    Seriously, calm the fuck down, it’s just a joke. Yes 2700 people died, but it’s done, there is no way of bringing them back. People are just going to keep bringing this up to justify our troops being in the middle east. I personally get sick of hearing the whole “We will never forget” thing. It’s like “Hey, lets bring up this tragic day, and let’s make money off of it!”
    So yeah, calm down, this joke is mildly funny, and like other people have said, if it was a different building you would be laughing.

  135. AquaLink on September 12th, 2008 12:32 pm

    wow, i’m actually laughing even more because of how many people hate me now. alright, let’s see if i can get a few of these questions and comments out of the way.
    @ Dragoon: sorry, i actually DO have a brain. everyone does, dumbass. and it IS hilarious, i mean look at it. if this were about any other thing, any other event that could be considered a horrible tragedy, you’d be laughing, so i don’t want to hear it. deep down, everyone laughs at this kind of thing because everyone knows it’s funny, even if it’s only a little chuckle. also, i refuse to apologize.
    @ Junes: clearly i’m laughing at it, grow some eyes and become not blind.
    @ Will: i think hitler is fun to laugh at sometimes and i hear bad jokes about the holocaust every now and again, like the one about the difference between jews and pizza (one doesn’t scream when you put it in the oven). sorry, but i chuckle at it every time i hear it.
    @ SoggyWafflez:
    1, family guy did but they make fun of everything.
    2, there’s plenty out there, just look them up.
    3, this event obviously had no effect on me at all. hell, none of these events have. i’m not entirely heartless, but i can’t explain why it doesn’t effect me, so i’ll just leave it at that.
    4, most “it’s super effective” jokes make me lol my pants off, this one is no different.
    obviously everyone needs to grow a pair and just accept the fact that this has happened and is over with. yes, it’s a great tragedy, many people died and it united our country for about a year or so until everyone started hating our president. honestly the only thing this event did to me is show how hypocritical our entire country is. one second we love our president, the next we hate him. honestly i’m tired of hearing about 9/11 and having to listen to other people whine and bitch about it. it happened, it’s over, stop living in the past and move on with your life. at least you still have it.

  136. AquaLink on September 12th, 2008 12:32 pm

    and sorry for the GIGANTIC post

  137. Human on September 12th, 2008 12:37 pm

    AquaLink, you don’t need to explain yourself or argue, you have a sense of humor.

    LOL 9/11 almost killed my dad but he’s still alive!

    It’s a shame people died, but they’re dead. Live and learn how to accept people’s opinions. Now if you’ll excuse me, I am going to laugh at that Benny Hill video of 9/11.

  138. NeoTorquil on September 12th, 2008 12:53 pm

  141. Animedevildog on September 12th, 2008 2:14 pm

    This is just wrong. As a veteran, a firefighter, and someone who lost a friend that day, I find it HIGHLY objectionable.

    *looks back on some of the comments*
    Good GOD People just calm the HELL DOWN. Seriously, it’s just a joke. The person who did this might be american himself. Good chances are he never meant to offend anyone. Why is it when someone makes a joke about say, all muslims being terrorists, people laugh. BUT when someone makes a joke about the twin towers, everyone goes OMG WHAT THE HELL YOU’RE SICK! THIS SUBMISSION SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE SITE BLAH BLAH BLAH! I’m an egyptian muslim. I see a bunch of things on the internet all the time which refer to muslims as terrorists and stuff, yet i don’t go freak out about it. Simply because i know the people who do that are either racists, or they’re just poking fun. All-in-all, i’m not going to waste my time to rant about how offensive it is etc.

    this should not have been posted shawn. not at all.

  155. Necro on September 12th, 2008 5:57 pm

    I’m proud of being a reader of this site. Shawn might not feel comfortable with the joke, but he has the professionalism to post it.
    The joke is not bad at all, you see? in many countries there were lots of email graphic jokes about this incident during the very first year, many sucked.
    I’m sure there are hundreds of people who had lost someone loved that day, but let’s face it, we have “in soviet russia… ” jokes, not even knowing the true facts of living there. So please, you may not like it, but that doesn’t give you the right to ask for it to be shut down.

  156. RonFalco on September 12th, 2008 6:10 pm

    wow. I actually found this funny.

    You have to look at this in a neutral way. The main reason these pics get flamed so much is that it was posted on an American-based site. You’d get the same reaction if you posted a hiroshima joke on a Japanese forum.

    I think it’s the fact that us Americans think of us as superior to everyone else, and as such, everyone should follow our lead.

    My view on 9/11: On the bright side, they’re in a better place.

  157. Rodrigo on September 12th, 2008 6:11 pm

    Man, you deserve over 9,000 internetz!!!

  158. Heidar on September 12th, 2008 6:17 pm

    I’m sure the creator’s intent for this picture was for people to at least attempt to ignore the fact of all the tragedy and horror that was suffered and see the humor of it.
    I mean, shit, there are lots and lots of jokes made about terrible things. We still laugh. No one here is laughing at the joke because they are insulting the people who died on that day. We laugh because it is a reference to a game that fits the context perfectly.
    5/5 for having the balls to post this.

    I respect those who died, but this is still freaking hilarious. Its been years. Every time you mourn, every time you’re afraid, everytime you think back with regret and dwell on the issue, Al queda wins again.

    I respect the deceased far too much to let Al Queda have that victory.

    Therefore, this is funny. No question.

    However, I don’t believe that the statute of limitations can be enforced yet. Give it three more years, perhaps. That might be a decent length of time.

  170. Cheat2Win on September 12th, 2008 10:09 pm

    At first I laughed, but then realized it wasn’t right of me to laugh. Even though I’m not American, (actually from The Caribbean, for anyone who cares) and sometimes jokes about America make me chuckle a little, I can’t say America is fully healed from 9/11. Though part of me wants to say “OMG GET OVER IT, IT’S BEEN SEVEN YEARS SINCE THAT SHIT’S HAPPENED!!!” , I realize that if I lost a loved one in 9/11, I don’t think I’d appreciate a Pokemon joke as a memento of my loved one. Saying all of that, I’m not gonna rate this one.

  171. Luckydog on September 12th, 2008 10:11 pm

    I just have to say, that even though we are laughing at tragic events, it is also reminding us of the people who died. Why shouldn’t we remember them through humour? I’m sure that they would hate for us to always mourn the event with sadness. We should laugh at this, remember the people who did lose their lives over something so stupid, and then look towards the future.
    Isn’t that what ground zero is all about, looking ahead?
    Either way, if you laugh or not, you remember those who died.
    I would just like to clarify that those who did find it funny, they’re not laughing at those who died. They mean no disrespect, so please stop taking it that way.
    9/11 happened. We can’t change that. This is just another take on how it happened.

  172. Luckydog on September 12th, 2008 10:13 pm

    @Cheat2win. I like to think that if any of them were pokemon fans, they’d find it funny. I know that if I myself had died in this event, that people who knew me would lol at this while remembering good times.

  173. Cheat2Win on September 12th, 2008 10:35 pm

    @luckydog
    You know, I think you may be right. Since I’m a Pokemon fan, I guess it would be nice that I would be remembered in humor instead of “Why did he have to get killed?! WHY?!” I guess tragedies like these are what the sayings “You cannot prevent the birds of sadness from passing over your head, but you can prevent their making a nest in your hair,” or better yet ,”Every tribulation which ever comes our way either is sent to be medicinal, if we will take it as such, or may become medicinal, if we will make it such, or is better than medicinal, unless we forsake it,” are for.

  174. It'sNotLupus on September 12th, 2008 10:36 pm

    Yes, I realize that it was 7 years ago and the ones who died wouldn’t want us to mourn forever, but the joke was just not funny. At all.

  181. me on September 13th, 2008 5:54 am

    This is fucking awesome.

    All you guys can stop pretending you care. The only way you could actually care is if you knew someone who died. You don’t care if fellow Americans die, you don’t even care if fellow New Yorkers die, people just say that to make themselves feel good.

    Your moral obligation lies with mankind, not just your countrymen, and laughing at this does not make you a bad person. Sure, I’d love to save all those people if there were a magic button, but I can’t, and I just find this funny.

    I’d also love to save everyone that was in the Holocaust, all the Iraqi soliders who died fighting for Saddam, all the soldiers of the Allied Armies and the Wermacht, but I can’t, so I’m going to laugh about it.

    Yeesh, get over yourselves.

  182. Hefaistus on September 13th, 2008 8:06 am

    While I agree that this is to soon (And especially since this is posted on 11 september itself) that doesn’t take it away that it’s funny.
    And I am glad not to be an American if finding this funny makes you ‘less’ American. Grow a sense of humour, people. In the end, laughing is one of the few things we have left to survive.

    Although I will not say it was one of the best jokes I’ve seen here, It made me laugh, and groan as I realized the mud-slinging that would follow. I’m sorry halolz, but you’ve done the right thing. Unfortunately, sometimes the right thing hurts and leaves you sadly misunderstood.

  186. zage513 on September 13th, 2008 10:57 am

    I for one, am not really affected by the events of 9-11 and yes I did laugh at this and the previous one. But before posting something like this, you should really think about the people who are affected by the events of that day seven years ago. All you telling the people who are insulted or offended by this to lighten up, have to realize its not really possible to if their lives have been effected by it or if they were traumatized by the event. I give this a 2/5 because it was a humored idea, but it mixed with an a widely offensive theme.

  187. ArmyGuy0628 on September 13th, 2008 11:16 am

    @Mastur Cheef

    you know you don’t think its funny, you just want to start a flame war by going against what everybody else is saying and using the word fucking to much. I bet out of the 186 comments, only 4 seriously messed up people thought this was funny. The rest are just trolls

  188. DeathJam on September 13th, 2008 11:28 am

    Sorry, i KNOW i’m going to hell after laughing at this, i feel cruel about it, but yeah… i’m going to hell for SURE now.

    @ArmyGuy0628
    Yeah it’s most probably just the ridiculously messed up people whos laughing, and btw, not a troll here, i don’t post often, but i’ve posted in 4 pics… i think all we’re screwed up in every way.
    Also, Mastur cheif has a point, as soon as someone takes the piss out of a tragety that happens to the homeland, everyone gets pissy and takes it to heart, pretty much going out, buying guns and threatening the maker of the pic, or anyone who took the piss. Seriously, if the UK got nuked, and i survived, i think about… a month later, i’d laugh about it, just because even tragic events become funny after awhile. No matter WHO it is, or who the victims are.

  189. Will on September 13th, 2008 11:34 am

    wow. i don’t like it but some people just need to learn to chill. like, the people who are posting the big all caps laughter, settle down, the people who say to “burn in hell”, like, really settle down. I wasn’t a fan like i said before but jeez man.

  190. Tadanori Oyama on September 13th, 2008 11:35 am

    That is awesome. It made my heart grow three sizes to finally find someplace that’s willing make fun of EVEREYTHING with equal consideration. I just wish there’d been somebody else in my office when I checked this, I would’ve loved to see somebody else’s reaction.

  191. Bhaelfur on September 13th, 2008 12:45 pm

    Wow, this is actually fairly funny. Yes, I realize that this is in poor taste, but that doesn’t mean it’s not funny! This is in the same vein as “‘Hitler killed a lot of Jews and one clown.’ ‘Why the clown?’ ‘See? No one cares about the Jews!’” It’s funny, yet in poor taste.

    If anything, I give credit to Halolz for posting these pictures. Thank you for not censoring pure brilliance.

  192. Blackbow1517 on September 13th, 2008 12:51 pm

    Hmmm… honestly I don’t think either of the 9/11 pic’s are funny. It’s not because they’re making fun of that day or anything, I just don’t think they’re very good jokes really. Ah well, you can try again next year.

    every time i see this i can’t help but think ‘WTC has been affected with burn’ i can’t quite remember the way it is on the game…but you get the idea.

  198. Pigeon Army on September 13th, 2008 8:55 pm

    @ManiacalZManiac
    I’m from New Zealand. It matters to me.
    I think the freedom of speech point is valid, and I think everyone should be able to say they found something funny or didn’t without vindication. However, I find it sick that people are telling the people who find this offensive to “take a joke” and “grow a sense of humour”. I have a sense of humour, like everyone else does, one that occasionally crosses over into the morbid, but you don’t need to prove you have one by laughing at a joke about 9/11. The crass insensitivity of some of the supporters of this pic (not all) is getting to me – you can laugh at it, that’s great. Doesn’t mean you can make value judgments about other people because they don’t, just like the people who don’t like it don’t have the right to make value judgments about you guys. It’s simple.

  199. Bazu on September 13th, 2008 9:09 pm

    Lulz. this reminds me of the “hurricane Katrina” gingerbread house I made a few years back. Props to you mr. Soapdish. And Props to Mr. Handyside for not being an annoying American nationalist and posting this stuff :3 GROUP HUUUUG!

  200. luckydog on September 13th, 2008 9:18 pm

    Pigeon Army is right. Fair enough if you are offended. But some people will find it funny. I think that if anyone did lose someone in the WTC tragedy, it may be too soon for them.
    Another thing I have to say is that when I hear the words “super effective” I am going to think of the victims. I think that it in itself is a good quality rather then a bad one. No one’s forcing you to laugh, but you have to remember that while some of us may laugh, we’re laughing at a fictional idea to the cause of one of the worlds greatest tragedy’s, not the actual event itself. Feel free to be offended, but appreciate the picture as now, when most of us pay Star fox, or Pokemon, we will remember these people.
    The picture isn’t demeaning the pain or the horror that the people went through in their final moments and it has been seven years. If it were 5 fair enough. I do understand that it is a touchy subject and I genuinely feel sorry for those who lost their lives and the people who are related to them.
    This doesn’t mean that because I laughed at something made up related to the towers means that I’m a heartless bitch. I still feel for those.
    But seriously, I understand that you’re angry, but please be a little more calmer when complaining. Most people on the site understand where you are coming from, but it is all a difference of opinion right?
    Anyways, the best way to remember those who died is not with sadness but with a celebration for those people who died and how they were in life, not death.

    (this has to be my longest post on Halolz ever)

  201. snider029 on September 13th, 2008 9:20 pm

    Im from Canada and im sixteen and the 9-11 attack was terrible but i have to say this made me laugh it was on the line but it has been several years and this was bound to happen sooner or later this person just had the guts to do it this is much more acceptable then people profiting from makeing music about 9-11 or selling the silver from ground zero as a memorial its shameless but this is simple and funny crude humor

  202. Robstein on September 14th, 2008 1:28 am

    I prefer the Starfox one. The Steve Irwin/Pokemon joke sort of used up the “Oh god that’s awful, but haha” already.

  203. Kreator on September 14th, 2008 6:27 am

    These past two pictures, i srs lol’d, infact i was downright rofl’ing.

    so many people taking this crap too seriously, really.
    look… if america keeps walking around with the attitude of “we’re the best!!1!”, then someone will come along everytime and slap you down.

    10/10 for both pictures, and good job to the mod for posting and keeping them up. as an artist im all for free speech.

    oh and please i hope so, a school shooting pic with ‘BOOM Headshot!’, those where awesome ^_^ only in america ftw.

    Nick Soapdish=Patriot.
    Now thats a fine example of the first amendment. Nice way to stand up and say “Sure you guys attacked us, But we can look back on this and laugh! You cant scare shit!”
    But besides the social commentary, not really all that funny.
    2/5 for the balls needed to make these things and actually send them in.
    0/5 for Handyside if he takes these down.

  205. Daifuku on September 14th, 2008 12:17 pm

    ok, first off uberprops to Shawn Handyside and Nick Soapdish for posting/creating this. you two got some major balls. and second please everyone chill. its a picture for god’s sake. are you really going to let something like this bend you all out of shape? (notes that i am also spending time out of my day to post on this. so i must be bent as well :p ) and third i think this is epically funny. i have also been in the Army for a little over 2 years now and have also fought in this retarded war now. i knew people in the towers. i joined the army and got shot at for those people in the towers that died. and i still have a sense of humor to find the humor in this. the event of september eleventh is horrible, dont get me wrong. but come on, this is genuinely funny stuff. and this goes for both pics

  206. TheOne&Only on September 14th, 2008 3:30 pm

    I love how everyone here is talking about Iraq when it has NOTHING to do with 9/11.

    We went to AFGHANISTAN to get terrorists and such, and there wasn’t much there. THEN we got info that WMD’s were in Iraq and went over there for THAT reason.

    P.S: All the people need to lighten up about the pic. I find it hillarious. Its a fucking picture. And if it bothers you THAT much, its as Gorge said, “Your letting the terrorists win”

  207. Ylva on September 14th, 2008 11:04 pm

    5/5
    I love “Super effective” jokes, and I am easy amused. And this amused me ever so.
    I laughed, I giggled, and I did so very hard.
    I also read all the comments. It took a while, but it was worth it; some were also very amusing.

    Now, this isn’t the first 9/11 joke I’ve seen. I’d like to share a few which I remember off hand.

    1)Q: What is the New York City Fire Department’s favorite song?
    A: “It’s Raining Men”

    2)Q: What’s the biggest difference between 9/11 and the Oklahoma City Bombing?
    A: Foreigners once again prove they can do it better and more efficiently.

    3)Q: How many Americans died in 9/11?
    A: Who gives a fuck?

    4)Q: What does WTC stand for?
    A: What Trade Centre?

    5)”It’s a bird!”
    “It’s a plane!”
    “It’s…. Oh shit, it IS a plane!”

    All these make me giggle also. (And I’m expecting someone to comment on these jokes. I’m looking at you Dragoon!)
    Anyway, I’m not American just if anyone cares to know. I’m a 17 year old, female Canadian. Here is my take on this whole thing. Was 9/11 a terrible tragidy, yes; and I do feel sorry for the people who lost loved ones. Also, the killing of many innocent civilians in the Middle East is also very tragic and I feel sorry for the loss of the loved ones there also. I also feel sorry for the loved ones of the men and women who have died fighting “the war on terror.” I do believe Canada is knocking on 100 soldiers who have died in the Middle East now, a good number of them accidently killed by American troops.
    Anyway, what I’m saying is that I feel bad for everyone’s loss and that this joke is still funny for me.
    I’m just going to stop there because this is much too long already.
    Peace to all!

    But seriously this flame war has gone on long enough. People need to learn to take a joke and deal with their own stupid opinion, with out exposing the fine users of halolz to your blatant stupidity.

    I for one was extremely pissed off when this happened because i was 8 at the time. They cancelled my favourite cartoons in the morning to play looped footage of the controlled demolition you all call 9/11, nevermind the fact it is 11/9…Stupid yankees.

    I do wish peace to everyone, however as someone else said, you are more likely to notice what is happening and affecting your own country and have that affect ones self more than if the same thing were to happen in a country on the other side of the world.
    By the way, I agree that I am a desensitized person; hurtful, maybe even that too.

This just isn’t right. I’ll put up with some of this kind of stuff, but it’s getting way to frequent. It’s not funny, it’s rude, and really inconsiderate to people like me, who don’t find Pokemon jokes funny.

    I’ll come back to this site after the moderators stop all the childish Pokemon references.

  214. Dr. Pie on September 16th, 2008 4:22 am

    I personally found it quite funny. In horribly bad taste, but funny.

    I wasn’t really affected at all by 9/11, being British.

    It was a tragedy yes, but if you can’t laugh at something, then how are we ever meant to move on. We can’t keep dwelling on the tragedies.

  215. DominicanKing614 on September 16th, 2008 8:58 pm

    ok the last 9/11 one with the barrel roll was kinda funny but this one is just stupid and wrong … a pokemon joke isnt that great on this kind of thing anyway and i think its a bit tiring to keep poking fun at something that tragic ….

    Too all of you people,
    Who have said given a “Kudos” for the representation of free speech.
    You sicken me,
    You’re not in favor of this due to the free speech,
    You are in love with the controversy.
    This isn’t an example of free speech,
    This is an example of ignorance.
    Yes, I know,
    “OMFG, he’s allowed to say it if he wants.”
    True,
    But the Right of Free Speech,
    Was designed,
    So that the oppressed could have a voice,
    So that those who would regularly not have that luxury,
    Could have one.
    Not so it could be used as a means of crude humor.

    And as for Satire,
    Yes,
    It is satire,
    Nice job for all of you who pointed that out.
    Now,
    Go take that nice little sudo-intellect you have,
    And do something productive with it.
    Don’t waste your time,
    Defending something that shouldn’t be defended.
    Myself.

    Why am I ranting?
    Because,
    15 people I knew,
    Friends and family,
    Died that day.
    Therein,
    I do take a very personal affront to this image,
    And the one prior to this.

    Let me put it to you this way, Stalin killed 11 million russians in WW2. A million german soldiers died, most of whom were sent to war for a cause they didn't beleive in.
    And yet you pay good money to derive pleasure from playing these games, shooting people in the head, sometimes pointing out to your friends that you got a good headshot on a guy cringing on the ground.
    Relax, and look at youself before you say this is too harsh.

  229. Aidan on November 26th, 2008 2:19 am

    hush you.
    Maybe they do find it funny, sorry if we all can't be as amazing as you. I envy you, i truly do.

  230. Joshy206 on November 27th, 2008 3:50 am

    I'm staying above the fray on this one and am not going to post whether I laughed, whether I agree, or anything like that.

    What I WILL post is that even though it might have been wrong for it to be posted here (I may or may not agree that this is the case) but none of you should be flinging political fighting at each other. It's a joke. We can all agree it is tasteless, but we are all allowed our own opinions. Do not yell, insult, or just abuse people for their views.

  231. In search of me on November 29th, 2008 6:20 am

    I would just like to say that this isn't a big deal in a universal view. It is estimated that 600-3000 people died every day in world war 1. Or that 30 million Ukrainians starved to death in possibly the worst genocide in history. During Stalin's reign. It is ant different here?

    The thing is that we have been exposed to this so much that it has desensitized us as beings. We see murder day in and day out, and we take it with great ease, because we know the feeling what it's like to see death. the comments of this picture are no different. People don't care that millions are without proper caring in Africa, it isn't in their personal interest.

    People take one look at this picture and find it tasteless because it is in their interest that what happened to a nation, becomes that nations history. It is because people value this history that they respect and reconcile in their beliefs that what means to them is what matters most.

    So to wrap things up, people who say this is tasteless are too sensitive of other peoples nationalistic values. People who say that people who find the image tasteless are being insensitive of those people. It is neither wrong, nor right to say what his picture represents. You either like it or hate it. The only thing people here can agree on is that it happened and it is sad. The difference is between those who can stand the exposure, and those who cope with it. It only depends on what you care about. Do you care enough to see that there is death at home, or do you care to see a broader spectrum, and see what occurs around the world. The only thing I can decide is that people are here to laugh, and this picture makes people laugh because people understand that the are much worse things. MUCH WOSE THINGS!
